I don't think they're trying to be an anything label - they're just releasing records that they like like they always have done - Milanese doesn't seem to be either hip-hop or indie rawk, for instance.[1] What they are trying to do is get club oriented records that they like into the hands of DJs, who may not neccessarily want to sift through the entire Warp output to find the tracks that wouldn't immediately clear the average dancefloor, and would probably rather have an imprint that points out the bits that might be of use to them.[2] David [1] What do people think of Milanese, by the way? I've not heard enough of him to form much of an opinion - is he worth checking out properly? [2] Apologies for the various generalisations here, but I think that they hold enough of the time for the point to work.

Oh, OK, that makes sense and I hadn't thought of it, not being a DJ or in any way related to such activities. So, in that case, I hope they release more Arcola because I did really like those tracks, specifically because they were more dance-oriented, while still having some depth & "otherness" to them that makes them headphone-good. -Adam Piontek PS - would people please not set up "I'm away on vacation" autoresponders if they're on mailing lists like idm-L, or at least unsubscribe when you go on vacation so we don't get your autoresponse when we send something into the list? Thanks. Because I don't care if you're on vacation. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
