I have been making beatslicers and glitchers powered by tempo clocked lfo's
in vaz modular, awesome for making crazy edits and generating new beat
patterns on the fly
Here is me talking through said glitch/fx machine, this is a live input
process and it sounds way cool when you put a beat in it and lock it to the
tempo

I'll second that, although I think it's just as easy to do complex drum
programming with cubase. The only thing missing is the retrigger effect,
but you can simulate that by using 128th notes with increasing or decreasing
velocity. Still, I think that trackers lend themselves well to this because
they tend to be very quick to write with once you know all the keyboard
shortcuts. Here's an old track of mine that was done entirely with impulse
tracker:
