So I've seen the Autechre / Hafler Trio cds in the store, but for $30 for 2 3" cds I'd like to hear some reviews or thoughts about it before spending that much. Especially since I've been pretty down on the more recent AE output. Also, how 'bout the (new?) AE remix of Seefeel- Spangle it is? How is that? Following up on the Skinny Puppy discussion of last week- I havent heard the new tunes myself, but it seems that everybody who has says they're really not good. Unfortunate. I guess ultimately I'll reserve judgement 'til I hear them myself, but it seems pretty unanimous.

Better, but just a single 12 minute + long track....also, not a new thing--- recorded quite a while back and just recently released. np: Mathias Schaffhauser--"Prost" max>>>>>>> --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

utter shite, really. And I even like droning and abstract music. The tracks get some points from me for sounding somewhat sinister but, c'mon, 30$- I wouldn't even download the tracks for free because the HD space could be used for something better. No variations, no rhythms, no melodies, just frequencies. You could get the same effect from a small engine motor connected to a low-pass filter. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? i agree - it's really not worth the money (though the packaging is very nice). a much better buy is the hafler trio's 'how to slice a loaf of bread', which is a superb piece of drone work over 3 cds, if you like that sort of thing. in some ways it's like stuff on skam with the beats taken out. oh, and the packaging is equally good. slow sound system slow sound system walk on the mild side info@slowsound.net www.slowsound.net ----- in league w/ [no.signal] | not clickable | sonomu | 8bitrecs | midrange | frequenzen | kultureflash ----- slow sound system @ foundry, 9 may w/adam butler / vert, paul hood and bbci experimental soundsystem | www.slowsound.net slow sound system allnight broadcast on resonance 104.4fm, 17 april | www.resonancefm.com ----- 'midrange sessions', forthcoming on coombe records | www.coomberecords.com 'there is no hidden meaning', forthcoming on kabuki kore | www.kabukikore.net slow sound system vs. posset, 'entropy sessions' out now on kabuki kore | www.kabukikore.net 'first steps' out now on grain of sound | www.grainofsound.com remix and rebuild project on 8bitrecs | www.8bitrecs.com imax photogallery | www.lomohomes.com/imax london headphones festival 2004 | http://placard.slab.org frequenzen, fortnightly on resonance 104.4fm | www.frequenzen.co.uk sonomu: sound noise music | www.sonomu.net [no.signal] electronica activity | http://nosignal.slab.org kultureflash: headlines from london | www.kultureflash.net sprawl club @ lifthouse | www.dfuse.com/sprawl ----- no? reply to this email with 'unsubscribe' in the subject line. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I enjoyed this one. i admit, i downloaded it, but if i had the money to spend on it, i would purchase it. I think the claim that there are no variations etc is a bit unfair and not entirely accurate. the sinisterness mentioned is why i dig it. its a bit like the droning ambient parts of the gescom MD at times. so if you like that you might like this. uh, no gescom puns intended there. i am, however, curious as to what people think of Coil's ANS release. now there's some droning without much variation rhythm melody etc.... - j.a.

See, this kind of talk irks me. Not you in particular, but some fans are never happy. Confield was largely dismissed as crap (not by me) because it was too "difficult," now they've got something simpler out and still no one's happy. its still a poop-load more interseting to my ears than some of the stuff off of incunabula, ie basscadet... a disappointment would be non-ironic work for britney spears. j.a. np:muslimgauze:your mines in kabul --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

how do you define "non-ironic work for britney spears"? Who gets the honor of defining it? And would it be non-ironic if you weren't disappointed by it or does disappointment imply its definition as non-ironic? I mean, really...who cares what anyone thinks of anything? What's the point of being irked? .brian -----Original Message----- From: jeremy.axon [mailto:jeremy@ums.ca] Sent: Monday, April 05, 2004 12:11 PM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] Ae/Hafler Trio

Yeah, uh, what's your point? It's great that people are offering their opinions... I mean what's "this kind of talk" anyway? just to attempt to make myself a bit more clear, "this kind of talk" refers to the "i used to like them when they did X, but now that they've released Y I am SO disappointed with the artists." as if they care. yes, i realize that my spears comment is exactly the same kind of thing, but that's a joke. maybe not a very apparent one, but a joke nonetheless. and me declaring my irkedness in this fashion is, to me at least, better than just slagging other people's opinions outright or resorting to lame personal attacks. both of which have occured on this here list in the past. oh and my irkedness is an opinion i chose to offer in a manner i had thought to be the least offensive. as for my point, it was (as stated in my earlier post) that if y'all like the beatless parts of the Gescom MD, y'all might like Ae3O. a frame of reference i figured might be handy for those who haven't heard Ae3O yet. constructive, no? and to the question of what i meant by non-ironic (and to whom), if Ae declared their genuine appreciation for ms spears' works and expressed a real interest in working with her, that would be non-ironic. non-ironic to them, not to some outside observer. like me. - ja np:roy orbison: anything you want --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
