It's a piece of marketing, that's all. I never heard anybody use it in real life. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

fusion is a word that's already been used long ago to describe a certain type of groove-based jazz-rock. it differs from prog in that prog seems to have longer and multi-part song structures and has an emphasis on classical scales and modes, through there's sometimes jazz thrown in as well. i can't name any fusion bands off the top of my head, but i know they exist(ed). d. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Weather Report, Return To Forever, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Headhunters and a ton of other (often ex-Miles players) ensembles. More than "sometimes jazz thrown in", the category was mainly a fusion between jazz with rock. jeff --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

And come to think of it, what Miles was playing in those days was also considered fusion. jeff (again - talking to myself) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
