This Noki Bay EP is his first full release after more than two and half years! The EP brings nine tracks in his trademark style, warm subtle electronics with a little touch of Detroit. The full sleeve artwork is again supplied by the man Delta! Alex Cortex does the job, and his CD 'Inward CTRL' contains 24 (!) tracks, ranging from ambient sound scapes to complex rhythm affairs. As a whole it reminds of Black Dog Productions, Boards of Canada, The Detroit Escalator Co, CiM and likes. He perfectly combines intriguing melodies over rhythms with a little touch of the Detroit sound. Alex Cortex is a young, multi-talented guy from Germany and has done releases for labels such as Source and Klang Elektronik.. The brilliant pieces on this album, bring back some needed warmth & soul in electronica. The album comes in a catchy three-flipped digipack CD and full colour LP-sleeve, both designed by Delta Inc. (The double vinyl version is called 'Inwards' and comes with 17 tracks. The CD has seven tracks more, taken from the 'CTRL EP', released March 2003). After the likeminded sounds of Optic Nerve (aka Keith Tucker), Amsterdam's eclectic Delsin-label brings another deeply talented electro artist. This striking EP brings energetic stuff, reminding to the earlier releases by Drexciya. The EP kicks off with a short spaced out Dopplereffekt-like jam. The second track boosts all dust out of the disco, with it's hunting bassline and beats. First track on side b comes with funky intriguing melodies. The SA&R album might still stand up to scrutiny pretty well, but Music for Particles sounds like rather dated 'ambient techno'. KB is primarily a drummer, so there's a deal of bangs and crashes and percussive clatter, though the keyboard architecture is usually restrained and melodic in a sort of abstract way. For my money one of his best tracks is a long piece on the Vedic - 'Rhythmic Intelligence' comp, called something like _Ancient Ocean_. That would also be a fitting description for his Further Self Evident Truths - it fits that he was a drummer as his percussive programming is intricate and a lot more interesting than most (in similar fashion I always felt Palm Skin Productions rhythmically was ahead of the game). The overall impression is of a sort of outsider non-breakbeat breakbeat.

I don't know the other two, but I'd forgotten he was on Macro Dub - a fine compilation containing my favourite 4Hero track (Parallel in 4 Form). Bedouin Ascent does seem to sit alongside a number of artists who though active don't seem to have followed through on their mid- 90s promise e.g. Higher Intelligence Agency (Colourform/Freefloater), the aforementioned Palmskin and Beaumont Hannant to name a few.
