hey there. i'm wondering if anyone knows of a free windoze mp3 encoder that will rip an entire disc as one mp3 (or wav) file. have a bunch of mix cds i'd rather have as one file instead of multiple. something that'll do at least 192kbps... thanks much --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/ http://cdexos.sf.net/ Still, all current versions of Winamp (i.e. 2.80-2.91) support gapless playback, so even cutting the tracks up shouldn't be a big deal. -- Kurt Bernhard Pruenner --- Haendelstrasse 17 --- 4020 Linz --- Austria .......It might be written "Mindfuck", but it's spelt "L-A-I-N"....... np: Barbara Morgenstern - Teil Fuer Teil (Fjorden) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Use the DirectSound plugin, and don't use fades on the start and end of the song - presto, instant gapless playback. (Note the "FAQ"-label at the bottom of the "Fading" tab in the DirectSound output plugin's configuration...) -- Kurt Bernhard Pruenner --- Haendelstrasse 17 --- 4020 Linz --- Austria .......It might be written "Mindfuck", but it's spelt "L-A-I-N"....... np: Superpitcher - Irre (Speicher CD 1) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Speaking of Winamp:

Do the later versions of WinAmp support Ogg Vorbis File Information? v2.80 DOES have a savable file information window for Ogg, but the newer versions (I was running v2.81 and uninstalled it, since it did NOT support the file information) do not appear to. If you right button click on File Info *nothing* happens. If you do it in Studio (WinAmp3) the window pops up, you fill in all the fields - but it refuses to store the information. The next time you click, it's empty. After 2.81 (normal WinAmp) I didn't bother looking for upgrades. Can somebody please check using an Ogg Vorbis file and let me know whether it allows for the file information window before I download, install, test, uninstall and re-install v2.80??? Very many thanks! Also : is there a handy Ogg Vorbis file information tagger that can handle multiple file fields? (Like Artist / Album Title in one operation for, say, 12 tracks before you hand fill-in track titles?) I dunno - I'm having no problem here with Winamp 2.91. I don't usually use Winamp to edit Ogg tags, though, only to view them. You might try tOGGer - http://togger.da.ru/ - and/or the Vorbis shell extension - http://members.ozemail.com.au/~spitsw/VorbisExt/ - I use them both. Quoting Irene McC <substar@iafrica.com>:
