Hey there, Can anyone recommend any good European music festivals this summer? I went to Sonar last year, but not very excited by the lineup this year, and also would like to try something a bit more out of the way, a bit smaller and stranger. A friend send me a link for Koneisto in Helsinki (www.koneisto.com) which he recommended and sounds ideal, except that there is no line-up posted for this year yet. I'm mostly interested in electronic festivals, but i'm also open to more indie rock oriented events. The two that have caught my eye are Primavera Sound (also in Barcelona, www.primavera-sound.com), which has a varied line-up with a good dose of electronica. Also, Nuits Sonores in Lyon, France (www.nuits-sonores.com), which looks like a great lineup (Jimi Tenor, DMX Krew, Astrobotnia-Ovuca, Add N to (X), Dave Clark, Radioactive Man etc..). Two festivals in Norway and Norway should be strange enough: Safe-as-Milk festival in July (I think). Its in an old boat house in the fishing village of Haugesund. (www.safe-as-milk.org). Last year foreigners got in for free!!! Probably this year as well, I dont know. Some confirmed names: eg. Hrvatski. Pilota/ Trollofonen in Bergen, Norway in May. Lots of concerts, both in a club and in a moving electric bus. Lots of Mego-stuff ++.(www.pilota.fm)

Thanks for all the recommendations. Still looking through them all. The safe-as-milk one sounds really interesting but the site is being redesigned and has no info at the moment. I'll maybe hold out to find out the line-up for that. the beginnings of the lineup for dour festival (belgium) are just announced..... www.dourfestival.be i went a few years back (err 4 i think) and it was HOT, nearly died in the heat.. nice festival though, and cheap to get in too, or it used to be...
