Many of you are forgetting that IDM is not, in fact, a genre, but merely the name of a mailing list. But what should we call the genre(s) of music we discuss here? I have come up with some possible names for this elusive category: 1. Really Smart Dance Music (RSDM) 2. Music for Not Having a Girlfriend To (MFNHAGT) 3. Autechre (AE) 4. Intelligent Dance Music (IDM) 5. Ford Motor Co. Presents: Intelligent Dance Music (FMCP:IDM) 6. That Shit that's all, like, Fucked Up (TSTALFU) 7. Post-Dumb Dance Music (PDDM) 8. Experimental Playlist qua Surrogate Penis (EPQSP) 9. Electronic Music that May or May Not be for Dancing (EMTMOMNBFD) 10. Hauteur Hop (HH) 11. Discuss Stockhausen with Friends, Listen to Scooter in Private (DSWFLTSIP) 12. Dude, if You Recorded the Sound of my Keyboard as I Typed that Last Sentence and Played it Back at Half Speed, it would *Totally* Sound like that one Funkstorung Track (DIYRTSOMKAITTLSAPIBAHSIW*T*SLTOFT) 13. Electronic Music that Defies All Forms of Categorization (EMTDAFOC) 14. Email Deletestep (EDS) I hope this helps narrow it down! _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Regarding suggestions. I'd recommend hitting some net-labels and then finding records from folks you like from those labels. Link surfing is always fun as well and you usually end up hitting some super nice finds. www.mono211.com www.observatoryonline.org www.kikapu.com www.illmatikvibes.com www.subverseco.com Are a few quality net-labels that you might find some interesting free MP3 releases on. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
