I would second that, perhaps leaning more towards Negativ, personally. Burn Place is also very good, but has a slightly dirtier sound, in the sense that it was made on a 486 computer and you can tell :P ...For a smaller, cheaper quick taste of recent Proem, check out the No_Carrier EP on Component Records - it's choice! so yeah.. before this turned into a flame battle over crap that we've all bickered about before.. my opinion is that burn plate just really isn't a very good album at all.. negativ, however, is an astounding one. worlds above burn plate, imo. also, i don't know if anyone mentioned it yet, but propem also has an excellent net-release on monotonik called "too many cookies", which i happen to think is a pretty damn good intro to proem. you can find that for free at http://www.mono211.com/content/releases/mtkmp41.html. no_carrier is also a great little mini-album, if you can get your hands on that. so, in short, do listen to too many cookies, don't listen to burn plate :P -peter --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

In all honesty, start anywhere with the Proem stuff. It's all excellent. An interesting little proem note : proem is going to be doing a remix for the upcoming somatic responses 2cd on component. Venetian Snares is going to be remixing the same track so it should be quite interesting in the least. Rob! As M Mercer said, Negativ will be the easiest to get ahold of - easiest directly from Merck, who are very good about orders. www.m3rck.net However, I also want to point out that Burn Plate is still listed as Amazon, and it's probably worth trying to get it from them: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00002JXCG/qid%3D1044643402/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/102-8226296-0866522 CDZone.co.uk also say they have it, and it's usually worth trying them, too: http://www.cdzone.co.uk/ BentCrayon also lists it, though that may not mean they have it. -Adam Piontek www.proem.info --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

"Negativ" is probably your best bet since as far as i know it's still available and is on CD. It's on Merck records, www.m3rck.net. I never heard the MD release as I don't have an MD player (and liekwise am not a fan of this format). Basically anything is good although I'm not as into the Cookies EP.... Burn Plate is stellar, very dark and nasty sounding but to the best of my knowledge out of print (Hydrant Records released it originally). If you like that sort of sound and haven't already heard them, I also highly recommend EOG who have released a few low-profile but high-quality vinyl releases on the dub label. Also, the Nummer Drie and Men With Boxes compilations on the dub label are somewhat consistent with this sound.... and I highly recommend them both. -matt _________________________________________________________________ Tired of spam? yeah your right... i mean, how dare an artist release something on vinyl ? how dare they make it difficult to rip and share infinitely on soulseek ? the mere fact that they release something on vinyl completely justifies not buying it!! right !???? or perhaps i should send proem an email, saying i'm going to download everything he releases on vinyl and never buy it because it's SOOO, passe'!!! he'll understand right ?!? so will his labels, right ?!?!? what a GREAT incentive for him to continue making music!!! spend a great deal of time, work your ass off to make something cool sounding, spend loads of cash on software and equipment and get a label to invest in your project and release it to the public, and then no one buys it because it's passe ? because it's on soulseek ?? what a great idea!!!!!!! ok, sorry for the sarcasm... but people whom download music, and then use lame excuses for never buying it, really bother me. i'm not saying using soulseek is wrong, i've used it in the past and i know many artists that use it as well. it's ok (imho) to use mp3's as a means of previewing music before you spend money on it, just don't forget the spend part. it's very important to support the music we like! and not use BS excuses like it was released on vinyl as reason not to support an artist. my 2 cents, john ps i believe negativ was released on cd also.... not sure about burn plate -daniel -----Original Message----- From: John Hager [mailto:HagerJW@Healthall.com] Sent: Friday, February 07, 2003 12:02 PM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] seekign Proem recommendations...

actually that's not entirely correct... it doesn't take "people"... it only takes one "person" to buy it for it to get on soulseek one purchase.... not a very good return, even on a limited pressing.... now i know realistically more will be bought, but i think you get my point..... regards, john --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

You are taking things out of context. I don't buy vinyl because personally I think it is antiquated and more of a tool for the 'elite' dj to use. I hate vinyl, its outdated and the quality sucks compared to digital transfer on cd. Too large, too bulky, too much too much. Too much to carry around; cd's are more my style and if they break, I can replace them with ease. I buy my music on cd's, when I cannot get it on cd, I get it off of Soulseek. I support the artists if and when I can afford to buy cd's, if not, I will rip it and d/l because personally I don't care if they make money or not. So you don't think musicians deserve to be rewarded for years of dedication and hard labor they put into making their craft? And intellectual property rights are for the birds. What about property rights in general? Or are you an anarchist? daniel <daniel@aptrick.com> wrote: You are taking things out of context. yes. i mean actually buy it... with real money, and support the people and labels who spend time, effort, and money for people like us to enjoy it.
quoted 2 lines Use Soulseek when it is back up.>Use Soulseek when it is back up. >Vinyl is so, passe'... ; )
yeah your right... i mean, how dare an artist release something on vinyl ? how dare they make it difficult to rip and share infinitely on soulseek ? the mere fact that they release something on vinyl completely justifies not buying it!! right !???? or perhaps i should send proem an email, saying i'm going to download everything he releases on vinyl and never buy it because it's SOOO, passe'!!! he'll understand right ?!? so will his labels, right ?!?!? what a GREAT incentive for him to continue making music!!! spend a great deal of time, work your ass off to make something cool sounding, spend loads of cash on software and equipment and get a label to invest in your project and release it to the public, and then no one buys it because it's passe ? because it's on soulseek ?? what a great idea!!!!!!! ok, sorry for the sarcasm... but people whom download music, and then use lame excuses for never buying it, really bother me. i'm not saying using soulseek is wrong, i've used it in the past and i know many artists that use it as well. it's ok (imho) to use mp3's as a means of previewing music before you spend money on it, just don't forget the spend part. it's very important to support the music we like! and not use BS excuses like it was released on vinyl as reason not to support an artist. my 2 cents, john ps i believe negativ was released on cd also.... not sure about burn plate -daniel -----Original Message----- From: John Hager [mailto:HagerJW@Healthall.com] Sent: Friday, February 07, 2003 12:02 PM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] seekign Proem recommendations...

I agree with you completely on paying artists for their craft but you should seriously check your definition of anarchy. "The philosophy of anarchism represents the most literal form of individualism, as well as collectivism. It is the most extreme opposite of what is termed "fascism". It conceives of man as naturally good and just, rational in his outlook, cooperative in his relationships with others." - taken from some hippy site b

Does that website provide any other definitions? Perhaps they can update an entire Webster's dictionary and make it a bit more...relevant and progressive. Anarchy is the mother of all order! doeznot allow <skitzobiatch@hotmail.com> wrote:I agree with you completely on paying artists for their craft but you should seriously check your definition of anarchy.
