---------- chromedecay 2003 ---------- Well, here we are at the beginning of a brand new year. As such, I wanted to recap the past year and thank you all for your support and kindness. contents: -the year in review -upcoming events -top 10 records -obligatory remove link ---------- the year in review: ---------- 2002 was a great year for me. I performed a number of live electroacoustic gigs: at immedia, at a house party with Keith Whitman (aka Hrvatski) + Greg Davis, at Canterbury House in Ann Arbor, and at an (OFF)SEAMUS event in Iowa City. I also played live with Telefon Tel Aviv and DJ'd at Necto (Ann Arbor) and on WDBM (East Lansing). One of the most important occurrences of 2002 for me was joining thinkbox, a self-curating group of new media artists from the Windsor and Detroit areas. I'd done a number of events with the thinkbox crew over the past 2 years, and it was an honor and pleasure to be asked to officially join the group. Finally, I moved chromedecay from an informal tag I'd used for projects (and the name of my website) to become a proper record label. I released 'live at leopolds' in May of 2002, with the intent of establishing chromedecay as an outlet for my personal projects. I also released 'combine', a 25-copy release on Ypsi United which will hopefully see a wider release in 2003. ---------- upcoming events: ---------- ---------- Friday, January 24 - thinkbox 'settings' cd release party at Detroit Contemporary: ---------- Friday, January 24, 2003, 9pm - 2am $5 admission to the event includes $5 off the price of a cd Featured performers include Mark Laliberte, Christopher Bissonnette, Christopher McNamara, Steven Roy, Bill Van Loo, Rob Theakston http://www.detroitcontemporary.com/thinkbox.htm ---------- end of January - live performance at immedia, University of Michigan: ---------- I'm going to be performing at immedia for the 3rd year in a row, presenting a set of integrated audio and video. More details soon. immedia2003 is presented by entity, the Ann Arbor Electronic Artist Coalition, and is the largest digital arts event in the Midwest. http://entity.ummu.umich.edu/immedia/ ---------- Monday, February 17 - live performance at Danny's Tavern, Chicago. ---------- I'll be playing live at an event put on by Parotic Music. More details to follow. http://www.paroticmusic.com http://metromix.com/top/1,1419,M-Metromix-Bars-bucktown!PlaceDetail-1977,00. html ---------- top 10 records of 2002: ---------- 1 saturday looks good to me love will find you (mono mixes) whistletap records 2 keith fullerton whitman playthroughs kranky 3 akufen deck the house force inc 4 stephen mathieu various, including "enofset", "frequencyLib", and "sommer in schafbrucke" bitsteam 5 greg davis arbor carpark 6 adult. nite life ghostly international 7 rhythm & sound we been troddin', king in my empire burial mix 8 shake what, me worry? frictional 9 flashpapr new leaves n/a 10 jim o'rourke I'm happy and I'm singing and a 1 2 3 4 mego ---------- obligatory remove link: ---------- If you'd rather not recieve promotional e-mail from me, just let me know and I'll take you off the list. -- http://www.chromedecay.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
