I like one/three better, myself. Its sound and aesthetic are slightly more raw, I guess, and I like that about it. It has that stilted, clipped boom-thwack like crazy. The best way to listen to dabrye is loud; moving vehicles are often a good choice. bvl

i may be alone in this, but i like instrumntl better. I think it has a bit more melody going on than one/three, and one nice factor for insturmntl it is nine tracks versus five for one/three (not sure how this works for time since i have the lps). they are prettty close to me. there is a new 12" with a prefuse 73 remix; saw it, but i haven't heard it yet... any words out there...? ~ josh

one/three (the CD album) has 10 tracks. the vinyl record has 5 "selections" from the album. the extra tracks are worth having. phase --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

on a side note, i would also recommend Tadd Mullinix's "Panes" EP on Ghostly which is his other more IDM-oriented project. Still the great production quality of Dabrye but with more of an ear for melody and tight sequencing. since we're on the subject...i recently found out that dabrye records as tadd mullinix. "winking makes a face" and "panes ep" on ghostly international. from what i've heard so far it's great stuff. leans more towards autechre then dabrye's hip hop feel. just thought i'd share with those who didn't know. i haven't heard his james cotton stuff yet (tech-house?) kaiser

i think he still does stuff for rewind, but i could be wrong. isn't he also sk1? because all of the releases on rewind are collaborations between soundmurderer and sk1. i'll say rewind is one of the only, perhaps the only "jungle" label still keeping the 94' style percussion alive. - cutups ----- Original Message ----- From: "ryan griffin" <ryan@octanedetroit.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Tuesday, January 07, 2003 4:32 PM Subject: RE: [idm] dabrye
