It's surprising how many posts have to do with people's auctions nowadays. Must be like a 1:1 ratio of advertising auctions to discussion-oriented posts. Throw in the Guidance records posts and you're up to 2:1....As noiseloop mentioned in a previous recent email, Rephlex doesn't bow to US corporate imperialism; why should this list bow to its users annoying advertising? Not that there's really an analogy in any true sense of the term, but it relates.... Ben --- "[william]" <3vs1@dccnet.com> wrote:

Actually, this was hashed out in about 1997. The protocols established permit FS lists and auctions as long as the sales lists aren't overly long and auctions as long as the same items are not continually advertised. jeff --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Plus, that's the only way to get a lot of the more obscure music, if you're not paying attention to all of the new release lists from obscure record stores. Usually by the time that the word gets around about how good a small pressing is, there's nothing left to buy. Similarly, it's also one of the few ways to get older stuff that's also been hard to come by. Sure, they're a pain, but as most people mark their posts accordingly (either auction or FS or ebay), they're easy to ignore if you don't want anything. I don't like seeing them all over, but then there's the few times I buy something from them, so I guess I'm pretty happy they're around. derek ------- eggytoast.com ------- coming soon: eggtastic.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Sure it's been hashed out, but hasn't anybody else noticed that by far most of the list traffic is commercial? For better or for worse, people aren't using the list for discussion and in many cases listmembers who in the past liked to talk about germane topics are themselves only posting commercial announcements. On the flip, though, Peter Gabriel's new album "UP" strikes some of the same neurons as Bola's work. -eric --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
