ambient legend mixmaster morris needs no introduction, but we're going
to
give one anyway for the uninitiated. morris has been serving up his
blend of chill music since '85, inspiring people such as the orb, aphex
twin, orbital, coldcut, and the black dog - playing the global chillout
room just about everywhere from mt fuji to the mojave desert to berlin.
recently he's been holding down his weekly "nubient" event in
london, and
working on his new album for ninja tune under his other name "the
irrestistible force". tuesday the mixmaster'll be spinning a
special set
w/the opiate crew, on the beautiful openair soundsystem.
but on first - live theremin by pamelia kurstin, one of the world's
leading theremin virtuosos. whereas many "therminists" just
wank on the
atonal noodling, pamelia actually *plays* the thing like a violin,
beautifully at that. she's also performed all over the place in
europe,
the states, and japan... with people such as air, sebastien tellier,
tortoise, pole, and monolake. this tuesday she's doing a solo set,
building chords and textures with the help of some special pedals and
effects.
