Quite appropriate, given the already floaty ambient pastiche. Not sure which guitar weirdness he is responsible for, but it all seems to fit into the picture well. Very odd record when taken as a whole. jeff --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

check out the cd sleeve....it lists what tracks he's on. basically all the guitars you hear on the album are him have you listened to the verve before? apparently nick was hanging out with rich d. james and such after they broke up in 98/99... no rumors or confirmations that he did collaborate on tracks with aphex.... basically what i'm trying to say is that if the Verve had continued with Nick's visions, they'd have pre-dated Radiohead's Idm infused stuff by a couple years... not many people seem to know about nick's excursions into the electronica/idm world... db ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mxyzptlk" <jpklein@telocity.com> To: "professor vast" <professorvast11@hotmail.com>; <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Friday, August 30, 2002 12:24 PM Subject: Re: [idm] La Prochaine Fois : Neotropic

Don't have the sleeve anymore, but if they're all him, that says it all.

certainly - isn't a bit hard not to have listened to them?

I had heard there was some Aphex connection, but didn't know of any recorded material which reflected those inclinations. I hadn't checked the credits on the record. jeff --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

The early EPs and the album 'A Storm in Heaven' are really dreamy, spacy rock. Back in the day, I listened to them alongside early Seefeel, My Bloody Valentine, SwerveDriver, Slowdive, Lush, etc etc. A Storm In Heaven had such a lush stoney vagueness to it ... a real contrast to the over-exposed MTV version of The Verve ... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Since Lush have been put on the menu, I've recently been listening to the new Morcheeba (Charango) quite a lot, which is certainly not IDM but very lovely nonetheless - I found many of the vocals reminiscent of the Lush material 4AD put out. So if you're a fan from those days, this might be worth checking out! i'm pretty sure it's 3 or 4 tracks on there...

well, i mean the older stuff...not the bittersweet symphony shit. A Storm in Heaven, the early ep's, A northern Soul (much more rocked out in places than ASIH)....

oh i'm sure i'd have found out if he'd done tracks with aphex ... that would be interesting to hear... i think aphex is too in your face for nick's guitar styles... he'd be more at home with the ambient types pv --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
