Just tuned into this upcoming compilation that i think many
list members will approve of once released. It's compiled by
Luaka Bop in conjunction with the International Centre for
Comparative Sound and is labeled as both `Electronic and
`Blip Hop. David Byrne has his hands in this project as well
and offers the following synopsis:
"Blip Hop is true world music -- made by instruments and
technologies that know and recognize no national
boundaries. It does no emerge from blues, folk traditions
or anything else. Of all the music in existence, it is the most
rootless (this, of course, is an exaggeration -- pole owes
a lot to dub and others owe a lot to kraftwerk who in
turn, i believe, owe a lot to strauss and classical austro-
germanic melodies). however, for the most part, it pretends
at least to be rootless and free of the weight of tradition."

Spanning through ambient-glitch-dub-infested funk, this
compilation manages to maneuver into distant audio-passages
where electrical snips & snaps dance with lo-fi rhythms that
are almost invisible.
