Why is it that I feel compelled to erase all the new posts that have arrived in the IDM folder every time that I leave my computer? What's this all about? Some high school gathering? Come on!!? I still had some hope... Posts about the demise of the so called rave scene? Naaa!!! All that happened a long time and a very far place ago. Very tired! Ae does and don'ts? They are the masters... is there really any doubt?????? but, that doesn't make them untouchable! Does it change their status? I don't think so, listen to the music and talk less BS... 5.1 maybe or maybe not, will it change a *good* (heavy subjective interference) track into something else or vice versa? No, I don't think so... rather, it's simply a technological issue (a good way to avoid taking a stand on musical convictions, if there are any.) Furthermore, given how few public places in the World (read bars or night clubs or whatever) there are, that have *ANY* kind of sound system, this whole discussion is beyond belief, wake the f**k up!, and just consider to listen to the music.) Best live act topic: is this really the IDM list of the year 2002? Can somebody please post any "live" act reference from this millennium? (Murcof from Leaf Recordings at Sónar 2002 in Barcelona?) Why don't you just listen to the music... Squarepusher's 'So plastic'? Might be exciting and exotic if you never ever heard or listened to or came in contact with (the late stages of) drum'n'bass... a retrospective laugh at best or simply depressing. Check out any release by Paradox, Arcon 2, Alpha Omega, Danny Breaks, Unknown Factor, Nucleus, Hidden Agenda, Special Forces, Search Engine, Sonar Circle, Teebee, Polar, Klute, Seba, Source Direct, Photek, Lenk or Blito instead. Warp is brilliant, but they're not the World... Who cares in what direction the needle is going? (except if you're trying to remember when or if you're playing out) Do you actually listen to the music as well? Vendor Refill - Stable EP Expanding Records - evsc1:01 FAB - (any track) Icarus - Kamikaze Icarus - Fijaka Icarus - Squid Ink Funckarma - Parts (and anything they've ever done) Metamatics - From DeathToPasswordsWhereYou'reAPaperAeroplane Lowfish - Maintain the tension Folie - Misspass Phonem - Hydra Electric Fibla - Landscopes L'usine Icl - Iron City Esem - Enveloped Naono - Slope Drifting Lazyfish / Mewark - Untitled K2O - No Space for Dogma ...are all really nice sounding right now! //Bell03 "We call it electronica" The idm list? hello list i have to agree with Bell03. it seems like all the posts are discussions about things that for the most part are irrelevent to idm music. i do enjoy discussion, but we need more up to date music topics (labels, artists). and not just afx, ae, pusher, BoC, etc...i'm sure everyone is aware of what's going on with them bell03 helped with the list of new stuff, but could you elaborate. just the fact that they sound nice doesn't help. i wish i could put some out there that i enjoy, but i'm a bit behind the times and i don't think i'd be much help. that's why we need more input about new, exciting, not so famous releases so poeple like me can get into it. here's some i've gotten recently i feel are worth checking out... from imputor?: diagram of suburban chaos - emotive glitchiness, excellent beats. and also aspects of physics - guitar with experimental electronics, slowly evolving tracks. check out the free mp3's at imputor.com i recommend the calculator man and hanger (aka plastiq phantom and snodgrass) i think the cd is oop. oh, if you haven't had the pleasure of being exposed to plastiq phantom track down "enjoy the art of lying down" i have a hard time articulating music into words, i apologize. i'm on a mush trip here recently... odd nosdam's "plan 9" is beautifully engulfing goth hip hop beats. his "sketchbook" TRACK 27 HOLY SHIT THAT's GOOD anticon "we aint fessin'" - abstract hip hop, just three tracks but deffinately worth checking out if your into that . oh, if you only got dntel's "life is full..." his first two releases "early works for me..." and "something always goes wrong" never seem to leave my cd player. no vocals but still very emotional, suprised i didn't hear of him sooner. "lackluster remixer" on merck is a must. it has the track from the marumari remixed cd plus machine drum...some of the best stuff i've heard from esa. telefon tel aviv "fahrenheit fair enough" - i couldn't wait to hear this after hearing their tracks off immediate action cd. like abstract r&b. no vocals. that reminds me i haven't listened to it in awhile. i apologize to those of you that are well aware of these releases. maybe you guys can recommend some to me based on what i've listed. that would be nice...isn't that what the list is for? all done kaiser np: the smiths (needed a break from electronic) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i agree, adam. autechre is really bot inpressing me personally only artists from warp that get me are the young guys like c. clark and prefuse (i guess he is not that young) im getting more excited about people like ISAN (clockwork mangarie) beautiful sound scapes from the ENO school...and scneider tm's side project Dr. Drek (very glitchy, but builds in intensity, no vocs) also check out dabrye's "instumntl" on eastern development records minimal type glitch-hop, nice. on an irrelevant note (for this list) interpol has my vote for one of the best records of the year, very intense...joy division meets chameleons meets clinic meets david byrne hard shoegaze rock "turn on the bright lights" nope ya cant always listen to idm. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? i don't see the point of all this meta idm list discussion. once it starts, it goes into digression on top of digression. these digressions seem to make up a large % of what people are actually complaining about in the first place... so here's my own advice: here's some kickin records that i play alot: resurrector- amnasty - no use for talent 12" undacova - metamood catalyst - pleemobil 12" somatic responses - touching the void - hymen LP prefuse 73 - 92' vs '02 - warp 12" flashbulb - drain mode on - bohnerwachs EP emotional joystick - ep 2 - zod EP abelcain - six stigmatta ep - zhark EP anticracy/fire at work - worldwide suicide - Idroscalo Dischi 2 12" gridlock - traces - zod LP soundmurderer - dreader than dread - rewind 12" i'm also jammin' on a bunch of skinny puppy, rabies that i found in a used bin, as well as diverse on chocolate industries, and cyne on rice and beans, the recent r2dj. got the midwest product since people were raving on their live show and the album is really good. indierock/electro combo is really odd, but done very well. also, the fight club 12" on tigerbeat is alot better than i thought it would be. the com.a track on there is great. - cutups ----- Original Message ----- From: <Oneaphex@aol.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Thursday, August 22, 2002 11:20 PM Subject: Re: [idm] Why is it?

Yes, I think it's called the IDM list. That is what it exists for... Me, I've been rocking this Origional Intrument Cd on Krack5 records. It's made from only little bits of voiceses. 100%, no drums, just manipulated voices. Also just got the AMMO and FANNY 7's on Mirex, bothe totally kick. Very strange glitch breakcore type stuff. If I had a 3rd choice for most played, it would be a CDR by DURAN DURAN DURAN and teh comp from Irritant Records. Duranx3 is so amazing and makes such a onslaught of noise that you eventually realise he's almost academic in his persuit if insanity. teh comp "Welcome to My World" is a strange mix of hard and soft, slow and fast hi tech and LO-Lo fi! Worth checking for sure!
