okay i've been listening to drum n bass for a few years now and i've been into shit like squarepusher (my favorite producer) and basicly the way i feel is that the dnb shit i'm into is too formulaic for my tastes, kind of paint by numbers shit, i mean yea you can do alot with it but one of the things that drew me to it was that it was so free sounding to me compared to shit like house and trance (which bores the living crap out of me) but basicly squarepusherish type shit is basicly exactly what i'm going for, stuff with crazy breaks that's not all "intro, first part, drop, buildup/break, drop, 2nd drop, outro" for every single track forever, i like to dj but dj "friendly" stuff, while in moderation being okay to me, exclusively is just mind numbing to me. i know little to nothing about idm other than most people seem to consider squarepusher idm, i've heard and like aphex twin and a couple of the other biggies like autechre (not my thing really) and i've heard of others like boards of canada and kid 606 but i was wondering if people could suggest me some stuff, and also where i can here it/where i can buy it. i prefer vinyl but cd's are cool too. i really like insane breaks that don't loop but rather go off all improved sounding and ridiculous burly sub bass, but also nice melodic shit (ala journey to reedham which is my favorite track ever of all time) and any suggestions would be greatly greatly appreciated and i appologise if this post is like me busting into a party knocking over a bunch of trashcans and the needle rips off the record and i'm drolling on myself to show you all how retarded i am but damnit i want to hear more shit that i'll like and you people would probably have a better idea than me if idm holds the key to what i'm looking for. and shit. 4352 _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

hello i would definitely recommend HRVATSKI if you are into the sqpshr stuff. i think that hrvatski's 'ousieaux 92-98' ( not sure about the years) is a jungle/dnb masterpiece.. his other stuff is great too, but that's the most 'jungly' of all his stuff i think. not to mention his remix of kid606's 'catstep/my kitten' on kid 606's KID606 and FRIENDS VOL. 1 - 'we are all winners' .. in my opinion, that's one of the finest jungle pieces ever composed .. many will agree i'm sure also check out plug ('drum n bass for papa') aka wagon christ aka luke vibert .. alec empire's 'destroyer' is good too .. really dirty dnb/jungle .. panacea 'twisted designz' is another fav of mine .. this is the only album i have of his, but i'm sure his other releases are good too animals on wheels 'designs and mistakes' (more melodic drill n bass type shit) animals on wheels 'cooked' (ep) mu-ziq 'lunatic harness' and pretty much everything else by mu-ziq aka mike paradinas aka kid spatula (correct me if i'm mistaken) i mean there is a whole world of great stuff in the vein of sqrpshr.. just gotta look around for it .. i'm sure there are lots of folks on this list that can provide further recommendations .. i would just start making a list of stuff to check out .. hope this helps! joe phluidbox www.sparkreleases.com

well, here comes self-promotion, but i can't help to think that some of my music (under the name cellular) has parts of the qualities you're looking for, such as nice melodies and ever-evolving drill'n'bass beats. do check out my free mp3 ep on www.kikapu.com, it's located right here: http://www.kikapu.com/label/releases/kpu001.htm listen to tracks 1, 4 and 6 first, they're the drilly ones. i do think the other ones are nice too, but that might be somewhat subjective. other than that, i can definitely recommmend 'lunatic harness' and 'brace yourself' by mu-ziq, as mentioned before. /adrian (cellular) http://cellmusic.cjb.net --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
