I would be most certainly guilty of pleading for non-warp talk, and the reasons why are twofold: 1. most of the comments are about their older back cateloge, like artificial intelligence, or RDJ album. Sure it's relevant but it's not exactly exciting. Why not discuss Prefuse or Vincent Gallo, or even Anti-pop? At least they would all count as recient releases... 2. There are so many great people out there doing fantastic music- music you can hum, and sing, and dance, and think about, and destroy stuff to - that's it's simply just in bad taste. How many posts have we seen about Atomheart lately? He's only released an album everyother month for the last 2 years- about 80% of which is fucking awesome. But maybe that's too obscure, what about more sacntioned IDM like Bola, String Theory, Team Dyobi or Phonetia? They all rule. What about people that are well known but a little of the betten path like Lesser, Elect. Co, and Venetian Snares? So lets lay off teh AFX worship for a bit and let teh clones fall away for a little while and chat about what's making us excited right now... Donna S

Actually, i was planning to talk about vincent gallo. Does anyone else in here actually listen to the whole album (when) and gets the feeling that its a great piece of work? Because i do think that the way he uses music to express his feelings is awesome. Just me? I find myself playing "when", back to back, at least once every two days. Please tell me doctor, am i sick? I personally find him to be a bit of whiny self obsessed shit. This is unfortunate because he really does make some very good music when he doesn't spoil it with his insipid lyrics. I love "Recordings of music for film", it's just what I need when the weathers wet and you're stuck inside. Acoustic and beautiful to the ears. The tracks on "When" are excellent as long as he doesn't sing! I also have found myself listening to Req's Sketchbook a lot recently, its nicely minimal, very pleasant for just lazin' about. georgewilliamson On the table: cds- John Coltrane - Blue trane don cherry - actions schoenberg - die jakobsleiter John Coltrane - Coltranes Sound Krzysztof Penderecki - Complete sacred works for acappella Brothomstates - Claro Photek - Modus Operandi Plug - Drum and Bass for papa barry adamson + pan sonic - motorlab #3 Arovane - Atol scrap Jello - Voile The bowling green - one pound note req - sketchbook venetian snares - higgins... luke vibert - further nuggets various - magic bus tracks prefuse 73 - uprock... funkstorung - grammy winners Radioboy - mechanics of destruction Aphex - SAW2 Muslimgauze - Arab Quarter Chris Morris - Blue Jam susumu yokota - magic thread tortoise - standards machine drum - now you know sabres of paradise - haunted dancehall other- unpaid bills dead cups toolkit digicam empty bottles assorted papers --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I agree, When is incredible. I'm listening to Recordings of Music for Film right now, and the soundtrack he wrote for the The Way It Is is beautiful. On Wed, 31 Jul 2002 10:16:06 +0100 Frederico Oliveira <idm@stylevictim.com> wrote:
