i'll get bashed for this, but i would argue that the first prodigy album actually was quite influential. "experience" has some of the hardest, fastest, sickest breakbeats ever devised, which for 1992 was quite unheard of, at least to me. i remember hating it the first time i listened to it - too fast! too much! - but i gradually came around. now i think it's a classic. charly sez drum, nub --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

If anybody starts bashing I got yer back. I liked all the Prodigy's albums to varying degrees. I was only 1/2 kidding about any of the 5 up there ... just trying to point out that there was more to 'tronica in the 90's than Warp and Astralwerks... even the "dumb" stuff was really fun and influential Moby didn't always suck as hard as he does now. The Prodj, well they had 2 pretty good albums considering what else was going on around that time; Likewise the Shamen ( I was young and unwise, not to mention full of drugs, in 1992 ). Utah Saints made me want to buy a Sampler. The Real McCoy were (and probably still are) played SO DAMN MUCH on the radio in St. Louis that I had no choice but to like them. Those guys might be a one-hit wonder but for crying out loud that one hit hasn't stopped ... Ace of Base invented Dub techno. That's all there is to it ... *ducks* joshd -- -- String Theory -- http://www.enteract.com/~yoshi/index.cgi -- String Theory's Anhedonia CD/LP available at finer music stores worldwide --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
