The Grounded label, out of Boston MA, has put its 7" series to the side (our
first release was a 7" by Greg Davis) and is now focusing on a compilation
to be released in mid-Fall 2002, hopefully early November.
Stylistically we are looking for innovative, thoughtfully processed
compositions in the area of electro-acoustic, ambient, or purely digital
max/MSP weirdness. Currently we haven't been terribly wow'd by the majority
of the output which is placed in the genre of "IDM", but have been quite
chuffed by releases put out by ~Scape, Tomlab, Carpark, Static Caravan, Rune
Grammofon, Schematic, Vertical Form, and Autumn, among others. Obviously
this is a deliberate range to be given. Just keep it fresh, freeform, and
interesting, regardless of whether its melodic or atonal, ambient or
beat-driven, Max/MSP weirdness or more compositionally traditional.
I will add that we are not looking for dance music - straight-up drum &
bass, house, or trance from a can will find their way to our nearest round
file (sorry). Please do not email us saying "I don't have anything to
submit yet, but I'm really good". Just send it on down when you have your
pieces finished. THE DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 1st. If you send anything past
that point, please email me first. We cannot return any submissions.
