I couldn't agree more, and this has been one of the main directions of Digital Cutup Lounge, so I guess it's time for an unabashed plug here...
The first DCL CD, Cutup Mixdown, is a DJ mix of techno/downtempo/drum'n'bass/ambient combined with live jazz improvisation and laptop noise.
The second DCL CD, Network Effects, takes these ideas into a more abstract plane and has less jazz and more abstract electronic sound.
Both of these CDs are released by Gogo, our Hong Kong-based record label and are not yet available in the US (only in Asia)...however, you can order them direct from Amazon. Network Effects is for sale at:

You can hear mp3s of some of our stuff on our website:

Our DCL live show is two laptops plus live jazz musicians, usually sax, keys, and drums at least though the lineup varies. I moved to LA about six months ago from Hong Kong and am currently sporadically doing shows in SoCal as Digital Cutup Lounge West, with a sax player (Andrew Pask) who processes his woodwind sounds live through MAX/MSP.

There are many records that can be described as electronic jazz (or maybe "new jazz" is the right term), but none of them can (at my opinion) compare to FLANGER. I'd be thankful to hear some more names of modern electronic jazz, which are worth listening to (although I know some of them like Cinematic Orchestra, Amon Tobin, Up Bustle & Out). I'd be also glad to get a response from the other fan of modern electronic jazz. Sorry if this all is a bit off-topic.
