Yeah, actually this was posted about back when ep7 first came out. It's only on the UK version (apparently the pressing plants in the US aren't high-tech enough), and it's not very exciting. Just some swooshy noises. :D derek ------- eggytoast.com ------- with lather thingy --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

:D Funny how I have a Course of Empire album with this technique on it - the first to have it (supposedly). There was also a Willie Nelson tribute with this feature, as i recall. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

There was a blind melon album too... soup, I think. When I discovered that it was possible, I immediately went through every CD I owned and tried rewinding every one. I didn't find anything, of course... Z __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! I remember people saying something at the time about the cost being prohibitve for doing things like this because it was a copyrighted process in the US or some crap like that. ep7 was released in what - 2000? i know that TMBG's factory showroom came out in '96. maybe by 2K somebody realized they could make people pay to be able to do this sort of thing and nothing (us ae distrib at the the time) didn't feel like paying for it. either way, it's not like the track is a vletrmx or anything like that. it's mostly just drony noises. np:nothing. but the new MMW disc is pretty nice. There has been a steady stream of discs since the first(?) one came out, so I don't buy that. Covering the ones mentioned on this list: Course of Empire - Initiation (1994) Sister Machine Gun - Burn (1995) Blind Melon - Soup (1995) They Might Be Giants - Factory Showroom (1996) Lamb - Fear of Fours (1999) Autechre - EP7 (2000) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ No one in particular: quasi-anonymity or good AI? idm@cocksalad.com Potentially embarrasing auto-generated "now playing": Fibla - Cyn --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

And on "Factory Showroom" by They Might Be Giants. At least they did *that* before Autechre; they're such blatant Ae copycats in every other respect... :P --- Stefan Mylleager <stefan@kiloo.dk> wrote:

Released on a major label, incidentally. So it can't be that expensive. The Willie Nelson tribute was from a company that tried to claim a copyright or patent, and prior art was shown to be in evidence due to this. I'll have to search Dallasobserver.com to find the article about it all. The pre-track is a nice little ambient track recorded in a parking garage. There's a lot of little tricks on that CD - including a track stereo separated and rotated 180 degrees. It's complicated to explain. I dubbed it off to a tape once, and the song buried underneath was very cool. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
