Let us clarify...are we talking tech house (that - imo - perfectly poopy stuff often called "UK Progressive") or micro house? I'm into all which are listed below as well, but I'm usually "corrected" by someone when I call them tech house. MRI is pretty good as well as the Klang stuff, Dirk Diggler, Raum...Music, Poker Flat, blah blah blah.. jeff ps Ah...I see a Merlak in this request. Please forget I mentioned UK Progressive. Merlaks know better :-) At 05:37 PM 4/8/2002, Lukas Bergstrom wrote:

there's a lot of great stuff out there: anything on the Perlon label... the newest 12" from Akufen and Pantytec are wicked. Also Ricardo Villalobos's "Panpot Spliff" is really fantastic. If you want a decent sampler, the Superlongevity compilation 2CD is a good start... it took time to grow on me, because when I first heard it I thought it was kind of boring, but I've since come around. Villalobos put together a mix CD on the Hacker's Goodlife label called "Love Family Trax" that I highly recommend, although it's a continuous mix which might not be what you want. Tracks by Jan Jelinek, Villalobos, Akufen, etc.... top notch flow. Anything on kompakt (although there are some ambient 12" and comps within their catalogue).. especially T.Raumschmiere's "Bolzplatz", Juergen Paape's "triumph"... Anything by Reinhard Voigt seems to be golden too, definitely on the harder side of things but really good stuff. His recent full length for Kompakt is great. anything on forcetracks, particularly "Rhythmogenesis" by MRI (their new one is good too but is more 80s-inspired) and "pink-eyed pony" by Crane AK. Twerk's "Now I'm Rendered Useless" on Force Inc is essential for angular DSP house tracks. Anything by Akufen, the more recent the better (the newest Psychometry 12" releases, the "dada" release on Background and the aforementioned Quebec Nightclub LP on Perlon). The Soft Pink Truth record on Soundslike (a.k.a. Drew Daniel of Matmos) Most of the Ware Records catalogue (label run by Mathias Schaffhauser) For a CD comp, the new Herbert "Secondhand Sounds" 2CD set of his remixes of other artists is highly recommended. Kit Clayton's "Material Problem" 12" on Cytrax has a really great track on it, haven't heard the whole thing though. In fact most likely the majority of the records on Cytrax probably won't disappoint you for what you're looking for. There's also a good compilation on Force Inc called "Met@music" which crosses over with Cytrax on a few tracks. The Miss Dinky 12" on Carpark has some nice techhouse tracks among other sounds. If you want to get more minimal and abstract, you might look into the Vita CD on Force Inc. (aka Mikael Stavoestrand), some of the Sutekh material, and anything on the Audio.NL label, who actually just released a decent comprehensive CD compilation of past 12". Klang is a pretty reputable label, having released a handful of stellar Farben 12" releases as well as a harder techno album from Continuous Mode and a strange and bubbly CD by Peter Spiess. Process's CD on Fatcat, "Shape-Space," which came out a couple years ago, is really good all the way through... bridging the gap between techhouse and deep techno. Along those same lines is some of the Monolake backcatalogue, although possibly too abstract for your purposes.... also the Electric Birds release, Panorama, starts off on the more listening side but gradually becomes more 4/floor minimal tech/house type stuff... Other assorted namechecking: Tomas Jirku Ark (especially the Copacabannark 10" on Perlon, a collaboration between Ark and Cabanne, although Cabanne's solo material didn't do much for me from what I could tell) Jetone (on the deeper side, on Force Inc) Geoff White (his newest 12" seems pretty solid) Gez Varley (the Bayou Paradis disc on Force Inc is straightforward but decent) Geeez N' Gosh (Atom Heart's ultraweird techhouse project revolving around Christian evangelist references) Thomas Brinkmann (the Corvette 12" on Max Ernst is ESSENTIAL, highly recommended!) Rechenzentrum (a bit more listening music than dancefloor but very very strong stuff, on Kitty-Yo and Shitkatapult) the Profan label (run by Mike Ink)... especially the Juergen Paape 12" called "Reval" Antonelli Electr: I personally love "Me, the Disco Machine" on his Italic label although this is more of an italo sort of affair... the "Click" record that followed it up is more techy and less pop. Ellen Allien "Stadtkind" a bit more on the electro tip but still very smart stuff. Everything on E.Allien's BPitch Control label has been solid so far, that I've heard. It's more new wave influenced, tossing in elements of techno, house, electro, pop and new wave into something fairly original and interesting. Anyway, I hope this mess of namedropping helps you a little at least :-) bye _________________________________________________________________ Join the world?s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

anything on nurture. anything by convextion (esp s/t on matrix and the tektite 12"). the stewart walker on tektite is a gem. deep chord is fairly good (say.. did anyone pick up dc15?). they're all the smooth stuff i prefer, not like the "angular" stuff like say twerk's album (not my bag at all). there's so much idm-house-minimal-techno-whatever stuff out there and a lot seems to be pretty uninspired so watch your step. nice one. dave ===== --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I don't think DC 15 has shipped. Orders were being taken until Mar.31st and then it was off to be pressed. The only one I know of and to whom I have spoken about it is one of the members and he said he liked it. As it was only available via the website by pre-order, I don't think you'll hear much until it ships. jeff --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
