well, good article, imho. just those little typo's :))) anyway, does anybody know the background info for the explanation of the title 'restproof clockwork'? i know there was a '70s rock band called plaid and they were signed to a label called 'Rustproof Records'. so what the hell? :) here's an URL: http://www.rustproofrecords.com/ bias. http://bias.underground.hu xpn-voice-added-contact:/dev/70/312/9708 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

According to some interview I read - don't remember when or where - they said they'd bought an alarm clock which had 'restproof clockwork' written on the box or manual or something, and they found it amusing (as one does) ... HOWEVER:

I was thinking of flying down to vegas for a week and then driving to l.a. to see Aphex myself, but I'm afraid the bastard'll prolly cancel. According to that article: "One of Warp's most successful and acclaimed releases, Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works 85-92 remains a sonic testament to Richard D. James's early pastoral vision." Selected Ambient Works 85-92 was actually released on R&S, not Warp. -skkatter __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE video emails in Yahoo! not the only mistake that they made... hehehe i wrote 'typo' but i meant 'typo & mistake'. like 'rUstproof clockwork' (typo). plaid's releases on Warp: Mvuki Bvuki (!!! it was on Clear Records as far i remember), Not For Threes, Rustproof Clockwork & Double Figure. :) apart from this it is a good article. also i was glad i could hear from Chris Clark, i have his debut album, which i love so much...! :) bias. http://bias.underground.hu xpn-voice-added-contact:/dev/70/312/9708 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

This has to do with a humorous translation of an older manual translated from japanese. It referred to a machine (I forget the exact type) that had "rustproof clockwork," which was [mis]translated as "rest proof clockwork." The boys found it funny and used it for the album name. :D derek --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

oh i see now, funny translations from japanese. they're cool. i have some translations from japanese to hungarian. i laughed my ass off when reading. =] there was a stupid toy imported from japan, the manual had interesting description like (i try to tell you some details in english, now that's too bad huh? :)))) ) "who win that sooner" or "you bigger, you point" etc. killer... bias. http://bias.underground.hu xpn-voice-added-contact:/dev/70/312/9708 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
