I'm gonna buck the trend here. knowing how some people want to buy cautiously, and don't want to commit their cash to albums they'll never like/listen to, I'm gonna recommend something a little different. Although some artists are recognised and have already been mentioned several times (Aphex Twin, Autechre, Boards Of Canada, etc), what I propose as a good starter set is the series of Peel Sessions on Warp records. My reason? a: cheap b: representative of several 'IDM' artists c: tracks are usually unique, either new tracks or live/re-editied versions of current ones. But basically hunt around. Here in the UK it's usually categorised either under 'Leftfield' (the genre, not the band) or 'Electronica'. I'll also recommend Plaid's '333 (Not for threes)' Relais 'Decode' if you're into more techno tinged IDM... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
