Don't know who they are, but they are indeed fakes. I think it was some mp3.com artist, can't remember. -- ________________________ omz beautamous loaf recordings http://www.hotweird.com/loaf --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

http://www.mp3.com/cex is a series of fairly horrible pisstakes. Loads of bad low fi recording, evil distortion, horrible microphone technique, and huey lewis acapellas and lame beatboxing. It doesn't really represent Cex's more carefully constructed output, but it really is Rjyan in action. Are these the files you're talking about? I'm sure there's some fairly horrible old Kid606 tracks floating around. Miguel has been making tracks for a long time... On Tue, 8 Jan 2002, omz wrote:

http://www.struktur.dabsol.co.uk/ Just got a promo from this label, two tracks by Bovaflux on a lush credit card format cd. There must be something in the water over there in MCR, these are two superb tracks with very complimentary graphics and packaging. Its idm without all of the useless distortion and trickery. The base vocabulary is that of idm however the goal seems to be that of achieving a song which, to me at least, seems to be getting lost these days. It thinks its what we all love about bands like plaid and boc, their ability to create a song rather than just some form of audio masturbation. The press release indicates that these will be limited edition releases (I think a total of 7) so grab them while you can, they are quality tracks. Also featured on this label is Thought Universe, you might know him from skam and mask, I believe he is also known as Martian Tin Can and The Renegades as well as Mark Pilkington. You can check out his stuff at http://www.thought-universe.co.uk Oh, btw, you can download some tracks at the struktur site, the links seem to be broken at the moment but I'm sure they'll be fixed soon Anyway, thats all for now, Adesh ~CF http://www.recordcamp.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

http://www.gooom.com Mils has become one of my favorites these days, Their music is organic and wacky at the same time. When I say wacky I mean in the sense that Aphex Twin is wacky with childlike themes and distorted vocal samples. The difference is that the origins of these sounds or at least the intent seems to be the want to add a texture that is organic and evocative of a place. I may be completely wrong but that place is very french. Mils has achieved adding history to their music without compromising that fact that it is idm, it is dance music, and it is looking ahead. I like the sense of context in this music, while most idm is clean and plays out on some sort of tabula rasa, Mils start with a palette of familiar items and the transcends the familiar into a dreamlike plane where everything enjoys a sense of multiplicity. On a less nerdy note, the song "galapagos islands milx" explains this feeling very well and seems to be stuck on repeat for me, it would be on my top 10 of last year if I made one, and very well would make it to my best of all time list too :-) If only it would be released on vinyl. Also, one should check out the imaginary singles club comp on gooom as well, not one bad track on that one and its out a vinyl too, definite plus.
