Just wanted to recommend iGetter (www.igetter.net) to Mac users out there,
particularly those (like me) who are using dialup or (also like me)
interested in stuff on mp3.com.
The current version (1.6) sends cookies from the system browser -- so you
can drag links from mp3.com artist pages into it, as long as you've already
filled in the mp3.com "Provide information" page using that browser -- and
has a "Process Web Page" feature, which allows you to select links on the
"uppermost" browser window for downloading (manually, by file type and by
server).
For a number of versions it's also handled disconnections well, reconnecting
and resuming interrupted downloads. I've got free offpeak dialup which
disconnects every 2 hours (don't ask -- I should have got DSL), so often I
just set it going & go to bed :-)
It's shareware: while unregistered it displays a splash screen for 10-20s
on startup, but that's the only limitation.
It's a shame that artists are leaving mp3.com -- eg Mr Projectile has
removed all but one of 20+ tracks -- presumably due to dumb attempts by
mp3.com to get more money from the artists.
