Just got his in yesterday, and WOW! His mixture of very structured, catchy drum beats and flowing, ebbing synths on top of really odd, chaotic sounding chords played almost always in minor positions is just the best! At times it almost reminds me of a heroin addict going through withdrawl symptoms while playing with a synthesizer and a drum module... It's nice to hear a release so well balanced between peaceful, melodic and chaotic all at the same time. If you haven't heard it, you should!!! This should be a definite favorite of mine for this month... -somrux. http://www.somrux.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

agreed... its one of the better albums of the year, live...john is even better, very hectic and physical. check out telofon tel aviv's new one, on hefty too...really nice. also the immediate action double CD series is by far the best label comp that i have gotten i a long time (read: it has a great diversity of sound/styles) ...we're working right now on material for a hefty release sometime next year. (just thought i'd throw that in for good measure) Greg Malcolm T w i n e///S o u n d ----------------------------------------------------------------? http://www.twinesound.com :: http://www.heftyrecords.com http://www.komplott.com :: http://www.bip-hop.com http://www.headroomdigital.com ----------------------------------------------------------------?

Yeah, I picked that Telefon Tel Aviv up the same day it was released. It was really weird to hear some Future 3 influence in the TTAviv stuff, while they still hold onto their own style so well. I'll have to order that immediate action 2 CD set tho. Haven't heard it yet... Any sneak previews of the new 'twine' stuff that we can expect next year out on Hefty? heh heh... !Thanks, as always! -somrux. http://www.somrux.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Greg Malcolm" <gemalcolm@hotmail.com> To: <bishop@somrux.com>; <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Thursday, November 29, 2001 2:13 PM Subject: Re: [idm] SLICKER - THE LATEST (Hefty Records)

absolutely true. i was rather disappointed that squarepusher had taken ill and was not to appear at the chicago show in august along with mira calix and plaid, and having never heard of slicker and seeing him on the bill outside as we walked up, i had my initial doubts, peppered with frustration that it was just some shitty dj they picked up in a panic to fill some time. very much to the contrary, i was incredibly impressed and bought his new release on the spot. much sexy. :mz // anonbox · http://posthoc.org/ | http://ecesis.org/ 'if there were two of you, which one would win?' --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
