i wouldnt necissarily call confield a total peice of
shit. That album is clever as fuck. A whole new way
of percieving quantization and rhythm. Whats so bad
about that? you could always change the station.
I also think drucqks (or however you spell it, haha)
is outstanding, but it very much contains a 'dated'
sound sometimes. I cant, however, deny that the
compostions are fantastic. Maybe its not all about
innovation after all.
I think there's two ways of looking at things really,
as far as this type of music goes. One is emotional
convitction, and the other is technical ability or
experimentation. I think that autechre and aphex twin
tend to swing each in it's different directions, one
being more on the musical aspect, not considering dsp
as its primary role. The other is more concerned with
the quest for new sounds and rhythms which our ears
have yet to encounter. I find beauty in both, and i
wouldnt necissarily compare one with the other
directly. The questiojn is, what interests you more?
