This from London's Time Out: "Herbie Hancock 'Kebero Parts 1 and 2 (Transparent Music) 'It's from Future2Future, the new album he's done with Bill Laswell, and Carl Craig is on this track. It's really out there - it's soundtracky, it's tribal, it's jazzy. Almost like a folk song with modern production.' " Does anybody know anything more about the following - like when the album's coming out, who else is on it? - couldn't find anything on the net. All the best, Colin. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

The Giant Step newsletter I received a day or two ago said it came out this week (presumably tuesday). I listened to some sample realaudio files and it sounds to me like Herbie is finally ready to not suck again! Let's hope he has the sense to never go back to all that crap he put out from the mid-eighties through the nineties. All of it CRAP! Didn't he win a grammy for that New Standard shit? Sorry... I just liked his playing sooo much in the late 60's/early 70's era. Sensitive subject. -Aaron ----- Original Message ----- From: Colin Buttimer <c.buttimer@mdx.ac.uk> Date: Thursday, September 27, 2001 11:07 am Subject: [idm] New Herbie

Thanks to everybody for their responses - someone from another list just told me the website for Herbie's new record: www.future2future.com - I've heard one track from the site which sounds mighty fine - I'd agree with Aaron - looks like he might not suck - great! I'm with you re Herbie: 3 words: Mwandishi. Crossings. Sextant *sigh* though I still have time for Future Shock and the other one whose name I've forgotten. All the best, Colin.
