my suggestions: ISOLEE: rest -one of the best, most overlooked releases of last year. if you could somehow combine the sensibility of autechre with the kompakt sound, this is what you get. LOSOUL: belong -while not as perfect as the ISOLEE album (also on playhouse), definitely interesting and better than most of the crap that passes for electronic music these days. i think his next album will have all the kinks ironed out. be warned, a few of the tracks are very annoying. somewhat similar to herbert, i think he did a remix for losoul. DUB TAYLOR: forms and figures -while definitely nothing groundbreaking this album is a must if your into BASIC CHANNEL and MAURIZIO. most of the tracks on the album are perfectly crafted and produced(with the exception of some between track segues that should be missing from the vinyl version) SISTOL: s/t -a vladislav delay pseudonym, very different from his usual sound, similar to what THOMAS BRINKMANN does. unfortunately this is not available on vinyl as far as i know, but i think the excellent UUSITALO album is. i'm not sure if this is totally off the subject, but you might want to give some detroit minimal techno a try...ROBERT HOOD and JEFF MILLS would be at the top of my list. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

hey cool, thanks! ask a stupid question about hoovers and spawn an informative thread about something i'm interested in. ahh, the magic of the internet. so i'm in san francisco, and i've been looking for microhouse and minimal techno records to no avail. klang, ~scape, the names below, etc. can any locals recommend a good shop? i can't believe it but amoeba let me down here... yes, i know i can mail order but i like the dj shops. it makes me happy to go through record bins. j On Wed, 17 Jul 2002, Philip Sherburne wrote:
