dear you,
hope you're enjoying the summer if it's nice where you are.
we're very pleased to tell you that after a few quiet months, we've
got some more nice releases sorted out, which will be available over
the coming weeks:
awkward 08...
this is first up and it's the split 7" for accelera deck and
sybarite, which we've been promising for a while now. all of the
tracks involved (five in total) are sounding lovely and the single is
being pressed at the moment so should be out in the shops by early
september.
this release will be one of the last for chris jeely as accelera
deck, as he has recently changed his recording name to after the
flood.
sybarite's efforts on the flipside show what we should expect when
his new album on 4AD arrives in a few months' time.
there will be just 500 copies pressed and full info on this single
will follow shortly before the release...
awkward 10...
next to be released will be awkward 10, which we're very excited
about, as it's a split 7" for papa m and unhome, with exclusive
tracks from both artists. we're sure a lot of you will know who papa
m (david pajo) is so we'll not go into too much detail just yet,
needless to say that he has been involved with many legendary artists
and outfits over the years and every release has been a winner.
b-siders unhome are an unusual and exciting collective from the south
of england, who we've been admiring for a while. when reviewing
their debut album 'a short history of houses', the nme likened them
to joy division, fugazi and, er, slint, which gives an indication of
where these fine folks are at.
this single will be released around late september / early october
and as soon as the actual release date is confirmed it will be
announced.
(note to retail folks - all distro for these is via cargo of london, as usual).
awkward 09...
awkward 09 is still set to be a split 7" for solvent and pest(e) but
not just yet! this project is nearing completion and we're hoping
for a release from the canadian electro chaps shortly after the above
singles...
we've also sorted out some other nice tracks due for release on split
7"s either later this year or very early in 2002. once the full
line-ups for the a and b-sides are confirmed for these we'll let you
know who, what and when.
awkward silence recordings dot com...
our website has now got a new permanent home at:
http://www.awkwardsilencerecordings.com (please update links if necessary).
it is maintained directly by us so will be updated and added to
regularly (and has just had more info added).
you can also e-mail us from now on at:

if you wish.
mp3 project...
we have recently become involved in an interesting project with a new
london internet bar, 'refresh' in fleet street, in conjunction with
found sounds (dj magazine) and reuters news agency.
they're using lilienthal's track 'rises and sets' from awkward 04 in
their mp3-only jukebox, which will include over 30 hours of
non-downloadable music.
this is an exciting new projoect, which we are pleased to be involved with.
future live events...
as quite a few people have been asking, there may well be another
awkward silence live event in london before the end of 2000. if we
do manage to sort something out you'll be the first to know.
