these two fellows are doing a special duet set at the next imputor? v.so
event in san diego. it will be a rare ambient-oriented set with tracks
composed specifically for the night, most likeley you will hear these
tracks once and only once.
here's the official info spam:
dear friends and loved ones,
your friendly neighborhood electronic music label is proud to present:
imputor? v.so40
a night of experimental electronic music
wednesday august 22nd 2001
featuring live performances by:
CONTACT [THE SILVER WIZARD + BOSTICH]
contact has no members. numerous contact shows have been performed, each
time with different musicians who have most likely never played together
before. this time around we get one part silver wizard (aka john goff,
ex-PHYSICS, CRASH WORSHIP, WIZARDS OF WAR), and one part ramon BOSTICH
(NORTEC/MIL RECORDS/PALM PICTURES). goff's credits include being a
founding member of PHYSICS, bagpipe-player extrordinaire (see his guest
appearances on albums by 3 MILE PILOT, PITCHFORK, NEUROSIS, and TRUMAN'S
WATER), and creator of THE WAY OUT SOUND imprint (releasing limited 7"s
by artists such as MUSLIMGAUZE, MERZBOW, HEAVY VEGETABLE, and numerous
others). ramon bostich is called "THE GODFATHER OF NORTEC," with his
track "polaris" being a standout on the now-famed tijuana sessions,
volume 1 compilation. even corporate america has taken notice - you will
hear his music in a series of volvo commercials in the near future.
this is a special one-time-only ambient/experiemental oriented
collaboration between the silver wizard and bostich.

THE ALBUM LEAF
the album leaf is jimmy lavalle of TRISTEZA's solo endeavor. it's
encouraging to experience an ex-member of san diego hardcore bands such
as THE LOCUST and THE CRIMSON CURSE creating music from an entirely
different mindset. without the constraints of the traditional band
setting and song-writing process, jimmy is able to incorporate ambient
noise, field recordings, taped conversations, radio transmissions and
other unique sounds into the album leaf to create a sound and atmosphere
all his own.

ASPECTS OF PHYSICS
jason soares (ex-THINGY, RICE, STACATTO READS) and thatcher orbitashi
make up this duo who were created from the ashes of the famed san diego
minimalist post-rock band PHYSICS (who have been known to perform
45-minute improv jam sessions based solely on 1 chord). while physics
brought the worlds of indie/punk rock and electronic music together 5
years before it was even hip to do so (ahem... tortoise, mogwai, and
radiohead can all suck it), aspects of physics takes it a step further
with their seamless welding of the styles of indie rock, ambient, IDM,
and visuals. staunch supporters of the open source movement, you can
pretty much download everything they've ever recorded for free off their
website.

DIASTEREO
diastereo can be called PHILLIP GLASS v2.0. using a similar classical
ambient approach to his compositions, diastereo takes it to the next
level by executing "generative music," or in other words by using
mathematical formulas, songs are "generated on the fly from random
numbers according to a set of rules developed by the composer," much
like fractal artwork, but applied to the musical plane.

PORTLAND
specer lytle, aka the artist formerly know as EPROM, is one obscure
mofo. but what i can say is that fans of caustic window & amber-era
autechre will dig this shit, yo.
