Why not be done with it & call this the Autechre mailing list? 1st step: you have to group yourselves in to 1 of 2 camps. A) The Tri Repetae camp (everything from Incunabula to Garbage including Crystel and The Egg but not that awful Cavity Job, it's almost dancey - yeuch!) "we like intelligent beats and melodies - Ae lost it with Lp5 and EP7, they just somehow "went shit"... B) The EP7 camp (everything post Envane except for that Various Artists remix [which one? Oh fuck off] which "... has got like, a 4/4 beat and is almost like, dancey - yeuch!" - "You just don't get EP7 until you've listened to merzbow and dockstader, man..." You are not allowed to like both A & B. You must defend your camp against any 'perceived" attack even if it means pre-emptive volleys.. play! -- Mike p http://www.planet-mu.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

nice joke Mike but......I think we should start to neglect what we hear on this list. I was told so many times how bad, boring, uninventive new Autechre is... and guess what?... I liked it from the first listen and it still grows on me! I have spoken to many people who told me - hey everybody says it's shit - why should we bother buying it? now, after listening to it myself and gotta say the situation is ridiculous. everybody has to know - new album rocks! in a whole new way! ;) Alien

With all due respect, may i ask if your jealous of Ae? ;-D dont be, and besides, this is an idm list and autechre is idm, and we will keep discussing them muwaaahahahaha..*cough*. ok. anyway, keep the amazing releases coming out from your label. my faves are phthalocyanine and leafcutter john and hellfish. im also really looking forward to Venetian snares and SLAG BOOM VAN LOON !! is it out yet? i heard a complete four tet remix, some one sent it to me, and someonle else later confirmed its fake. can i have some mp3s plzzzzzzzz !? p.s. just yesterday, i cut out a section of secret stair p.t.1 from lunatic harness, the empathic droney bits, loaded them up in buzz and looped them for like 4 hours. sounded cool.

Heya! It was like a miracle when I first heard of it and I still do not believe that shit happened in my very city! The first ever idm act (except for local unknown artsists) in Kiev, Ukraine was really good. Roman played his DJ set which was well received by the audience warmed up by the sound of detroit techno. His set sounded like his own music mixed with some earlier Aphex stuff.. 8) I wonder what are the names on this list. Then he played some of his own tracks in the chillout area, some of which I recognised from his split with Ambidextrous on Shaped Harmonic and maybe his long play on Pitchcadet, yet some of the tracks sounded new to me and they were great too. Wish that place had more powerful sound system.... To Ambidextrous: Thanx for the Cds of Errorism Roman gave me from you. 8) Can you tell me whom exactly I should give the other CDs and CDRs that I received? I just wanted to know your wish for those. Thanx for the act and we are eager for more! I dunno, I'm new here too :) FWIW, I've found this list pretty useful thus far - I've enjoyed checking out the links people have posted to the music they like; having been out of circulation for a while, I wouldn't have come across Prefuse 73, or Mauramari(?) without the good folk on here recommending them. The 'trash' just seems to be the kind of off topic stuff that every list has, to me at least. -- "First Rule of Robot Club: You do not talk about Robot Club." Sorry for bein such a stupid...: When was envane released? In the first camp or in the the second? I got that release from the time i even didn't know it was considered as IDM, even not knowin there was such thingy as IDM... M.oozzuzz (btw: i still like it...) Why not be done with it & call this the Autechre mailing list? You must defend your camp against any 'perceived" attack even if it means pre-emptive volleys.. play! -- Mike p http://www.planet-mu.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

That's a question I myself wondered. I think that "Envane" is great but that "Chiastic Slide" mostly sucks, and overall, I'm in Camp A. I must be some sort of Ae weirdo. -Ryan At 10:36 PM 6/26/2001 +0200, you wrote:

Just out of curiousity, I'd like to know how many people aren't in either. And shouldn't there be like a A* camp that thinks the best stuff is pre Tri Repetae? We're always hearing whackos who say Amber is their best cd. I myself don't see why someone should be in any camp since it all kicks ass, except for that awful awful awful Basscadet single. Actually, I rank Incunabula as one of my dearest ae discs. The first half may be a little daggy, but starting from "Basscadet" on, it's the very gravy. "444" still moves me. Hard to put myself into just one camp: my fondness for Tri Repetae fluctuates over time like f(x) = sin (x), but then I have to reckon with Incuna. And in camp B, LP5 is tops for me. So, I have one of each. Damn -- I can't go without rae and drane2 and acroyear... And then there's Confield, which tickles the special place in my brain in a funny way. With a gun to my head, I'll put myself into A. Cos it's easier listening and the melodies are beautiful. My nomimated exempla: "Basscad" and on in Incuna, "Foil" on Amber, AeG, "Lost" and "Flutter" on AeP, and of course, the soundtrack to the new VW Beetle commercial. ;) Lee "The last days of his sight he spent simply gazing at her."
