Okay, I'm askin' for it big time by posting this, but I have a guilty and insatiable addiction to stripped-down, poppy trance like Alice Deejay and some of the stuff DJ Jurgen spins. I'm talking kicks, recycled but classic chords, catchy monosynth melodies, and really bad lyrics in European-accented english that make you dis it in front of your glitch friends to maintain cred but then secretly pump your fists in your car when you are alone. Can anyone help with some suggestions? I'm not normally so weak; I loved Confield, I listen to Microstoria, Hrvatski, Mouse on Mars, and many others- the most abstract electronics anyone can imagine, but...everyone has their moments :) Thanks in advance, John "The Underground: Small but Serious" -From the visuals at Hrvatski's show at Podewil - Berlin __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Well a coworker of mine likes the same type of music and played for me some of this god awful stuff by DJ Mystik. I think it fits the type of music your looking for. I have about 20 discs by him sitting here on my hard drive that I copied over the company intranet. If your looking for some trance that's less cheesy but still hard and pumping try some of the early Harthouse material from the likes of Resistance D and Spicelab. thanks to "bill burroughs" and "astaplatz" for the information pertaining to my gear question. overall, it made me realize a few things: 1.) i don't know much about pc/mac and their role in making music; 2.) i should figure out what i want to accomplish first; and 3.) maybe i should just stick with my outboard gear, learn that first, then integrate a pc into the mix later. anyway, thanks again. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Aqua, the band that did Barbie Girl. Their music is terrible, but somehow brilliant as well. I really like that 'Barbie Girl' single, it's a future classic. It's fantastic, life in plastic. <<I'm talking kicks, recycled but classic chords, catchy monosynth melodies, and really bad lyrics in European-accented english>> I believe SCOOTER has that genre by the balls. _Age of Love_ is one of my most-played albums (it's kind of like progressive trance meets hard rock, but it fits your description to a tee). They've also got a new one out in 2001 that I haven't heard but it looks like a real tour de force: Scooter, _No Time to Chill_: 1. Last Warning 2. How Much Is The Fish 3. We Are The Greatest 4. Call Me Manana 5. Don't Stop 6. I Was Made For Lovin' You 7. Frequent Traveller 8. Eyes Without A Face 9. Hands Up! 10. Everything's Borrowed 11. Expecting More From Ratty 12. Time and Space Just from the titles you can get an inkling of how adroitly they mingle deep poetic subtlety with hip street smarts. (Yet another post to file under "things you never thought you'd find yourself writing to the IDM list.") _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I don't think I've ever heard anything by Scooter. However...
