sorry for the crosspost. here's my deal::: firstly i HATE genesis p'orridge's voice, it drives me up the wall, so i've kinda avoided psychic TV's output, but then i heard some really great spooky organic ambient stuff in a record store once, and it turned out to be ptv, but i didn't ask which particular album it was... so i'm interested in perhaps picking up some ptv stuff, but i don't want to get burned with something i'm not going to like (i.e. if it has his irritating vocals on it). could someone out there point me towards some spooky ambient, instrumental ptv?? thx in advance. c. . .. . . . --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

There is an album that comes to mind. Not sure it may be the kondole one mentioned. Whatever it was there were two versions. One with spoken word over it and one without. Unfortunately a now long lost friend of mine had the instrumental version and I the spoken word one. When I heard his version I was amazed by the music as it was hard to notice with his rambling. My version is on invisible and is called A HOLLOW COST. I have a 12 inch single that is straight organic ambient. PTV-Unclean-Temple Records-1984. Unclean on A side and Mirrors on B side. I also suggest the electric newspaper series. I think there is 4 or so. Its a collection of samples free for artists to use. Makes for a good chillout listen as well. Few samples of rambling here and there but mostly instrumental stuff. A came across an album with the ptv cross on it by Psychic Warriors Of Gaia. Nice chilled rhythmic ambient. Not sure if they were associated with PTV or just TOPY though. I still really enjoy listening to some old Throbbing Gristle live performances. Good stuff. If you want something like that, you may want to point your ears in the direction of Throbbing Gristle's In the Shadow of the Sun - I can send you a couple of samples through e-mail if you want...its a bit of a departure for TG really...it and Journey through a body are pretty much ambient, but with that TG drity/dark feel to it...no lyrics (except in Journey through a body, with some nurse repeatedly saying stuff like: "are you alright dear?" over a hospital respirator...luvely...ever wanted to experience a hospital, but without the sickness?)... As for Psychic TV...well, I have a few albums of theirs, but not much...you may want to check out Dreams Less Sweet, which, from what I recall, don't have any lyrics as such, just sampled voices...its from one of the earlier lineups before the two Coil guys left - lineup of Genesis P (& Paula P), Sleazy, Jhon Balance and Alex Fergusson... Definately get In the shadow of the sun though...one of my favourite ambient albums of all time... :) RoNAn ----- Original Message ----- From: "c. reider" <vuzh@peakpeak.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org>; <ambient@hyperreal.org> Sent: Sunday, June 17, 2001 9:28 PM Subject: (amb) psychic TV
