I'm waiting for any new release by Vladislav Delay. This man has taken me
in so many directions in th past year or so, starting with Entain and
Multila which still seem new (and even the parts that I've memorized are
still so cathartic), moving on to Uusitalo, Conoco and Luomo and the various
compilation tracks. Anima is such a tough album to listen to all the way
through, but it is still such a superb experience. If "Holiday" off the new
Clicks n Cuts is any indication of what to expect from him in the coming
months, I will be oh so happy. I think that Anima was his great conclusion
to a melancholic output phase, and that "Holiday" and his Luomo stuff
represents a move to beautifully contented, even happy music... :) Anyway,
he is by far my favorite producer. I know that if he had never come out and
made this type of shit, my own music would have evolved eventually to become
extremely similar to his Multila and Entain stuff. Now I gotta figure out a
new sound :)
Also:
Jan Jelinek/Farben/Gramm -- can't wait to hear what this guy's doing. What
another unique sound. Gramm's Personal Rock does weird things to my head :)
Nick Rapaccioli -- everything I've heard by him is top-notch. His remix of
Pub's Summer is brilliant, and his new EP is an exercise in superb
circuitous dramatics. Deep n dubby.. mmmm.....
Arovane -- so much has been said of them, so suffice to say that they are
among the top artists out there. The can do it all as good if not better
than anyone.
Scott Herren (Delarosa & Asora, Savath & Savalas, Seely, Prefuse 73) -- Pure
genius. This guy is going to fuse together a lot of genres and artists from
all over the board. He already has, and the fact that he's worked with
people like MF Doom and Aesop ROCK is so cool. My three favorite genres of
music (post-rock, idm, hip-hop) are melding and it's so frickin exciting. :)
And Scott Herren is embodying the spirit of this integration... I see
Tortoise w/ Nobukazu Takemura and Prefuse 73 in two weeks !!!
Also I can't wait for the Fondle 'Em comp. on Co Flow's Def Jux label, the
new Bjork, and the new Andrea Parker.
