I'm trying to throw together a CDR compilation of electro dance songs for some friends to be called "Robot Rock Sensation!" I'm looking for good, short, accessible, recently produced electro tunes that either excel in kitsch or else just sound neat. Everything must be robot danceable. Here's some likely candidates so far: -DOPPLEREFFEKT: "Plastiphilia" (fade out) -ADULT: "The Missing" -MISS KITTIN AND THE HACKER: "Frank Sinatra" -CONSOLE: "14 Zero Zero" -PERSPECTS: "Desire & Efficiency" -LE CAR: "Flame Job" -LADYTRON: "He Took Her" -FISCHERSPOONER: "Turn On" -I-F: "Space Invaders (Radio Mix)" (maybe) -SKANFROM: "Goodbye" -MANDROID: "Playdoh" (or something, maybe) -BODENSTANDIG 2000: undecided -LEKTROGIRL: maybe a short little ditty -AUX88: a short vocal clip or two -Also considering songs by DMX Krew, Bad Street Boy, Drexciya, Computor Rockers, Little Computer People, Peaches, GD Luxxe, Solvent, Frederik Schikowski, Aux88, Voice Stealer, Knife Hand Chop, DJ Assault, Godfather,... but no particular tracks I've heard have really made the cut so far. I've still got half an hour to fill so I'm looking for more songs in this vein. Please help me! You people have to know of some decent roboty songs I could use. One more caveat: I'm only including relatively new stuff, that's why you don't see Kraftwerk and all that good stuff. (An old school "Electrofunk Explosion!" will have to be a later project.) --> Does DMX Krew have *any* decent songs? Everything I hear from him is crap (except maybe that Cat on Mars). --> I don't know anything about alternative music. Are there any more sort of happy kitschy bands out there that sing over sequenced beats? --> I've never tried the 313 list, but is that a better place to talk about electro than here? --> Any recommendations for bad European electropop? I heard a few songs by Antonelli Electr, Stereo Total, and La Casa Azul that were close calls but not quite electro-y enough. Thanks! ps. Don't know if this would fit on your compilation, but I've always found the "Sound of the Street" track by DMX Krew to be superb. There's some other cool tracks on the rephlex album with the same name. The DMX Krew remix of Cylob's "Rewind" is lovely high-top shoe/track-suit electro. Mmmmm. Doug --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

No. It's possibly the most annoying list I'm on. -- :: atomly :: atomly@atomly.com | atomly@atdot.org | atomly@curiousnetworks.com http://www.atomly.com | http://www.mp3.com/atomly --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

check out anthony rother's latest album 'simulationszeitalter' (or any other release for that matter) on electrolux. plenty of kraftwerk-esque gimmiks and kitschy as hell. other recommendations would perhaps include: japanese telecom, elecktroids and ultradyne. they all have that distinct 80's funky-machines electropop feeling to them cheers henry

YES!!! Well, it really depends on how serious you want to be about yourself. If you're not, then his stuff will be great. The tracks I really like are (in no partic. order) 1. street boys 2. glass room 3. release my dub (love?) 4. good time girl 5. come to me 6. can you feel the power? 7. place called love 1-4 are from "We are dmx" 5-7 are from "nu romantix" There's also some good remixes of his stuff by Cylob / Aphex Twin and a bunch of random tracks i napstroed by him that are also nice. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
