A former member of Fundamental Wajid Yaseen specialises in a breakbeat noise that is as deep as it is varied. Hello IDMers, Glad to say you that a new Russian label called Shaped Harmonics has released its first product. Here is a press-release: Ambidextrous / Novel 23 "Cross-Split EP" (12", Shaped Harmonics, 2001) Debut release from a young "Shaped Harmonics" label, a split record by two Russian musicians known as Ambidextrous and Novel 23. Six tracks (two from each artist plus two remixes) make an audio cocktail of ingredients such as crunchy electro rhythms, interweaving melodies and distant voice samples. All this can be characterized as IDM with musical, harmonic component being dominant. The record combines modern experimental sound with neo-romantic feeling from the 80s. Ambidextrous and Novel 23 have been shaping sounds for the past few years, and have made a noticeable splash in many digital electronic fields. On this upcoming split 12" for Shaped Harmonics (RU), Ambidextrous and Novel 23 create tunes that dip into a sonic palette of sometimes dark, but mostly upbeat electronic happiness.
