Please, keep the "you-are-a-narrow-minded-IDM-loser" insults to yourself. There are plenty of people here who know a wholoe shitload about Hiphop and about a billion other genres. And no one said anything about Kid Koala being on Dr Octagon. Want me to send you all the original posts?
quoted 7 lines Kola did the 'cuts' on Deltron (pop quiz: do you remember what>Kola did the 'cuts' on Deltron (pop quiz: do you remember what >'cuts' mean?), and they are fairly decent, Kanadian styl-e stuff. >Not as good as Qbert, but ohwell. >In the future, I suggest that you all remain on topic on this list >and stick to crap like "Emotional content of Autechre" or "Loop >Based Music" and let the hiphop ride to those who know it. quoted 1 line Don't reply supporting incorrect statements.>Don't reply supporting incorrect statements.
Look here, time for a grammer lesson (how often does this list get down to stupid debates over proper grammer? too much, but here goes): Look at my sentence that prompted your "Well, you sure dont know Kid Koala..."jawn: the "they" are reffering to the cuts, mkay? can you read subject/adverb agreement? maybe not....if i were talking about "they" and reffing kid koala, I would probably be talking about Bullfrog or something like that...hows that for knowledge. Go back to paragraph writing 101. "I was listening to Kid Koala before Ninja Tune 'discovered' him" OHHHHH< GoD DAMN, ALLOW ME To GET ON MY KNEES! I HATE when people start doing the " I heard them first" crap, like its a imediate social standing boost. Before I start quoting Fifeteen and J-Church songs on your ass, get back in your hole. Please. And to be quite honest, what Kid Koala does IS NOT hiphop (if you want to start talking about 'a billion other genres'), it is turntablism. It is a derivative of hiphop, as "IDM"(shudder) is a derivative of techno. And another thing, punkass: "narrow-minded" IS what IDM implys (if you disagree, look at the thousands of strings on this list that have popped up in regards to this). Really, I am getting very tired of this trite shit. Its like inventing a phrase such as "Valuable Art" or "Proggresive Classical" and then trying to say that they are NOT narrowminded. Bigot. Bloody hell. I just joined this list and I really hope it's not like this all the time. Both sides in this debate are getting really upset over really trivial things. Surely we're all on this list because of something we have in common? Is there any need for all this ego and testosterone? Still, the grammar checks are good - otherwise we'll never learn! Anyway, as for people saying we shouldn't discuss hip-hop on an IDM list... well that just seems ludicrous to me. I reckon we should discuss any music we like. The IDM thing is just a common starting point, I would have thought, to us all finding more music to love of any genre. I love you all. Hew
