I've been loving The Automator's latest, Deltron 3030, with Del the Funkee Homosapien. Automator worked with Kool Keith on Dr. Octagon. -Ryan At 11:20 PM 2/6/2001 -0500, you wrote:

My suggestions (aside from cLOUDEAD/Them/Dose One and Company Flow, which is where this thread started I think) would be the Valis I compilation on Subharmonic, Ice's "Bad Blood" album (although I personally hated it, and I'm an enormous Kevin Martin fanatic), Funkstorung (another one I personally don't feel), and Prefuse73's "Estrocaro E.P." (which I only last week discovered I've been playing at the wrong speed, but I can't get into it at 45 for some reason). Although not *real* out there, Def Harmonic (on Wobblyhead Records) are definately not mundane. If by 'hip hop' you simply mean breakbeat, check out anything by Q-Bert/Invisibl Skratch Pikelz, Mr. Dibbs/1200 Hobos (particularly the amazing 'Presage' album), or DJ Krush (I think its safe to assume everyone and their mom knows about DJ Shadow already). Naturally opinions are bound to differ, but Kool Keith and Anti-Pop Consortium are just being different for the sake of it, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but experimentation it is not. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

yah, dan the automator is phat. I dont know why everyone refers to kool keith as experimental (nor why its on this list), its just plain hip-hop. if you want someting more 'experimental' than that, check out dr. doom. It's one of kool kieth's side projects. shit's hilarious. he totally lievs up to his title as 'best mc in the world'... ian --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Have to second this, but maybe I've been spoilt by seeing him live, but he was just plain ol hip-hop, granted the lyrics on Dr Octagon are pretty weird... Mr Dibbs - love that -"123 ways to fry an egg", Pressage! with the mad Doze Green cover art... -i __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
