Console, _Rocket in the Pocket_ It fucking rules. This is melody, this is nostalgia, this is good beats and grooves without any of it being cloying. If you like BOC, you owe yourself a copy of this album. Questions: "My Dog Eats Beats" - is it me, or is there a major sample from an old Exist Dance tune in it? I've got "Are We Not Men Who Live and Die", "Rewind", "Feelings on a Screen", and "14 Zero Zero". Let's say I wanna do a technopop styled DJ set for an upcoming gig - anybody have other songs they'd suggest? I'm sure if I rummaged around my records I could find a few, I think the Fizzarum record on Domino has a hint of vocals to it, and I aim to pick up "Expo 2000" the next time I'm at Johnny Law, but what else should I be spinning in this vein? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Funny you should ask this, as I'm going to be playing a synthpop/electro set tomorrow night and have been making some lists in my head over the last couple of days. Stuff I plan on bringing (besides what you mention above) includes: New skool: Adult, Le Car and other Ersatz Audio stuff I-f G.D. Luxxe Ladytron Solvent Lowfish Old skool: Kraftwerk (duh!) early Human League Soft Cell early Depeche Mode early OMD There's more, but I need to take a flip through my collection to remember it all. For those in Toronto who want to hear me playing all this stuff, you can find the info at http://www.feedbackmonitor.com/live.htm - scroll down to the second event listed under Saturday, February 3rd. LADYTRON! Of fucking course! "Hey Spacegirl" = perfect. Must locate that on vinyl... What else is there out there that's recent and less electroey? I'm looking more for the vocal thing. Wish I had "You Can't Hide Your Love". I know I have "Ffffresh!" around here somewhere - maybe. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
