I recently moved to NYC, and after settling in for a month+ now, I'm interested in pursuing some of the IDM-related music around here (I know there's some; I've noticed it mentioned on the list before). So anyway, what are good night spots, music stores, radio stations/shows, etc.? Right now I'm living in Brooklyn, but of course with the handy MTA card I can get pretty much anywhere... Please, help a geek out :-p -adam -- Adam Piontek [http://www.tcinternet.net/users/damek/] ICQ: 3456339 [damek@earthling.net] --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

so here's a bunch of info. drop me aline if u want to geek out. check out Undercity- sunday nights at halcyon (smith st. brooklyn) details at: http://dub.supa.com/index.php3?section=events.undercity It's free, they serve coffee + beer/wine and yummy vegetarian sandwiches. stores: Other Music, w4th and broadway, just around the corner from tower records. great selection of all sorts of non-mainstream music. the used selection is pretty good. prices aren't that bad but... Mondo Kim's, St. Mark's Place Also has a great selection of IDM/eletronic. The used section can be pretty amazing and are usually much better priced than Other Music. I've seen stuff like Hab: Mapod for $4.99! Think they had used promos of the new Jega a few weeks before it was released. Their sale prices of new releases are usually better than other as well. (think i bought the various artsists (from BasicChanel) comp. cd released by FatCat at other for like $16 and then a week later Kim's had it for like $12. grrrr.) Also subscribe there's a list of local events by a local dj, here's his .sig: bryan kasenic wnyu 89.1 fm new york co-producer/dj: beyond: tues 10:30p-1am WNYU online - http://www.wnyu.org Subscribe to my weekly Beyond Events Calendar, a comprehensive listing of the worthwhile electronic music events in New York City and beyond.
