Just been out walking in the countryside and I had this idea for a music video. The music’s gonna be really ambient and chilled out, soft strings, faint piano etc: It opens in a field in the country, long green grass, sunny blue sky, soft bird song, lush trees in the background. There’s this little girl in the middle of the field, eight or nine years old, white dress, the typical fairy princess stereotype. And she’s humming to herself while trying to catch butterflies, skipping away, and generally being happy. As the song progresses little white flowers start coming up through the grass in long white lines that stretch over the field. Then these flowers and the grass around them start to lie flat and slowly turn grey (in time with the music). And slowly the grass and flowers turn into gravel and tar, morphing into a giant motorway (freeway). The sky turns grey, the birds stop singing, it starts to rain. But the little girl is unaware of all this and continues her game, though the butterflies she was trying to catch slowly morph into cockroaches. Then the first car speeds past her. It’s a big ole Rolls Royce, driven by a suited, grey, executive type. But he doesn’t seem to care about the little girl. He just speeds past her, laughing to himself. The traffic increases, with the cars getting closer and closer to the little girl, who is still oblivious to the danger she’s in. Now the cars are zipping past her, missing her by inches, and as they zoom past, they spray the murky rain over her while dress, while the fat cats in their cars still laugh to themselves. It ends when the little girl, with her dress a smudgy grey, finally catches what she’s been after. But as she opens her hand, she realises, to her horror, that instead of holding a delicate butterfly, she is in fact holding a crushed cockroach…and then the lorry hits her, and the music ends. I live 5 minutes away from countryside like I’ve described, it’s the so-called ‘protected’ green belt. But recently a plan went through to build something like 10 thousand houses on it. Sure, everyone needs houses, but the houses that are going to be built will large, private estates, for the rich and fat. What makes it worse is the fact that my town has room for over 20 thousand houses in so called ‘brown’ areas. But building on these sites will cost more, and the houses won’t be as expensive as the private ones. Thanks for reading. ===== http://www.peoplesound.com/artist/akabenhatchelt ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
