Golly Gee. Planet Mu does it so it must be "hip". Why they are getting such props for biting V/Vm's style (and that of folks many leagues prior) is odd. The originators get ignored, while the new kid's with the pretty hairdos get all the respect. JJTar...wondering if Speedranch will suddenly be claimed "hip" and "stellar" now that he has been blessed by the hand of Mu. brian is ultra-hip! why, i bought that planet-mu comp cus i saw he had it when he came to my house. okay, enough brian praise, cus im sure someone will get on me for not noticing someone else was buying planet mu before him :) but really, the new planet mu 12" is fun, as is a ton of v/vm stuff, some of the jj tar stuff i have heard, and some of brians stuff i have heard. but not weird al. sorry, he may be old school, but i am not down with his style. we are all love. chris. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Well, I don't know if you meant anything personally by that statement, but in the most likely case that you didn't, I'll just say I've been cursed for not having heard any V/Vm stuff, though I've heard great things so far. I'm giving props to the Planet Mu 12" because A) I picked it up at the store, listened to it, dug it, and bought it, B) It's fun, and C) I haven't personally encounted much else in that vein aside from some Kid 606 and Lexaunculpt... Sorry, no concerns of personal hipness status was involved whatsoever in my purchase of the Mu 12". If there had been some V/Vm records of that specific vein at the store in question available for previewing, I probably would have purchased them as well. Obviously, I haven't heard enough, so I look forward to any V/Vm recommendations you got. And you call those hairdos pretty?

Well for one thing the "Genie in a Bottle" track was pretty good. As for the V/VM "covers", I found the ones they had on their site to be down right unlistenable. V/VM has gotten more than their fair share of props, and I've yet to see anything to justify the excitement people have over their tracks. Negativland ? Damn, they had enough press over that whole U2 incident to last a lifetime. i think someone needs to listen to "up where we belong" they don't butcher mr.mullet's version of it do they. it sounds like the joe cocker version. i tried to remix madonna's "celebrate" in the same vein as v/vm would. i got the introduction down nicely but as soon as it came to vocals, all hell broke loose. shaun ----- Original Message ----- From: component <component@mindstorm.com> To: Andrew Hime <hime1@gte.net>; Inebriated Dancing Monkeys <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Monday, December 04, 2000 9:39 PM Subject: Re: [idm] Fw: [idm] allstars vs pigs.
