hello all, there are a few recent and/or not so recent releases that I've been considering picking up, but I was interested in learning more about them. If anyone has any descriptions or reviews to offer of the following and wouldn't mind sending them my way I'd appreciate it: the new Uusitalo: keeping in mind that while I greatly enjoy the Vladislav "Multila" and "entain" releases, I didn't much care for Luomo's "Vocalcity" Starfish Pool... never heard of them until recently. What are they like? the new snd record: i.e., is it makesnd part 2? Have they moved onto new things? I enjoy makesnd but hardly am looking for a repetition of it.... Jacob Mandell: the releases on Kodama... are they IDM slanted or more techy? I picked up Quontum Current which I like, but I am looking for less straightforward material. Es: I liked the art direction of the release I spotted at Bent Crayon in Cleve but didn't know anything about it. And I've been trying to curb my impulse shopping. :-) Auch: release on Mille Plateaux... how is it? Also, is anyone a fan of Speedranch/Jansky Noise? I've been eyeing some stuff but haven't heard any of it. I'm not too wild about the really silly VVM stuff I've heard, but I like some of the abrasive, less kitschy stuff. -- as for my own recommendations, the new material on Komplott (Komp, Figurera) is so brilliant I'm inclined to go buy a turntable just to be able to play these records. For now I'm limited to the run through my friend gave me on his turntable... the komet "rausch" release on 12K is top notch. My interest in the microscopic thing had been waning somewhat but Bretschneider's really hit the mark on this one. Equal parts glitchy minimalism and a sleek, digital bleep-groove. and the new cristian vogel release is pretty weird. funky and noisy and strange, in the best possible way! -- anyway, any recommendations or reviews of the aforementioned releases would be greatly appreciated. matt ------------------------- mmmamtmtthhwe d.. m memrrcer designgn-->viieodoe, auduiodio, prpntint, bwebewww ********** mmercer@kent.edu (ememial) http://www.personal.kent.edu/~mmercer/ (sisitie) http://www.mp3.com/systm (mmsmsusuci) ++++++++ "i like to annoy people. i think it's a virtue." --john lydonnnnnnnnn --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

speedranch/jansky noise is pretty un-silly. "welcome to execrate" is very abrasive and harsh, and includes some stuff from the reckankrew (hrvatski etc.) it definitely falls into the category of noise. there aren't any cover songs and most of it sounds someone apocalyptic. cheers, /derek --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
