I (finally) picked this release up, and am not turning back. "Putting the Morr into Morrisey" is a classic example of ambience meets scattered beats. Some of the high profile electronic artists such as Solvent, Isan, Arovane, Herrmann & Kleine contribute to this excellent compilation, including several others in all formats --ambient, atmospheric, glitch. From gorgeous melodies to clicky beats and peculiar ambience, this compilation is a good start if you want to taste what Morr Music has in store. www.morrmusic.com is the url. Pietro. np~ Cottage Industries Compilation on Neo Ouija.. another fine example of warm blips and bleeps molded into 12 lovely tracks. Features Solenoid, Bauri, Yunx, Geiom, Phonem, Herrmann and Klein, Clatterbox, Plod Penfold Plum, Consumer Durable and others. www.neoouija.co.uk is under construction at the moment, should be up tomorrow. _____________________________________ pietro :: pietrobot@home.com 9745 lynngrove cr., windsor, ont., n8r 1b8, ca igloo mag :: www.igloomag.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I agree with earlier comments about the Colleen "Everyone Alive Wants Answers" on Leaf. It's a great album!!! It's definitely one of the most interesting releases I've heard recently. Kickboardgirl is an amazing record. You should also pickup the H&K Transalpin e.p. on CCO. However, I found Our Noise to be a big disappointment. I guess I had really high expectations for H&K's first full length and they just failed to deliver. If you like H&K, you should definitely check out all the Ulrich Schnauss stuff on CCO. and generally speaking, if you like the Morr sound, you'll like CCO stuff, though CCO is sometimes a little more abstract. As far as the rest of the Morr catalogue is concerned, it's absolutely essential that you get the first comp on the label "Putting the Morr back in Morrissey" it's possibly the best compilation i own -- truly stunning. and much better than the "Blue Skied an' Clear" comp, imo. I also highly recommend the B. Fleischman releases on Morr "Pop Loops for Breakfast" and "Sidonie" Morr is pretty much my favorie label. i buy everything they put out and only a few have been disappointing. one final note -- the new Static record on CCO is absolutely fantastic! where his two previous records had a one or two really good songs, this record is just great from beginning to end. he's really hit his stride here. the record has a nice poppy feel, but it's still just abstact enough to keep it interesting and fresh sounding, imo. hope that helps. dave Ami <ami@fastmail.fm> wrote: Been told, that H&K's Our Noise anf Kickboard Girl are must-haves. depends on what you're after, i'd imagine... for the indietronic/poppy/shoegazer-influenced stuff, yeah H&K are definitely a good place to start. we can't forget about LALI PUNA, though, as both LP lps are pure class. other solid morr releases in this vein: both MANUAL albums (as mentioned previously), some of the ISAN stuff, the BLUE SKIED AN' CLEAR (2cd) compilation, and the LIMP album, "orion". if you also enjoy the less indie-influenced stuff (i.e. more classic experimental/idm), i cannot recommend CHRISTIAN KLEINE enough, his "valis" album is superb. i second the PHONEM notion, and will also single out one of my faves on morr, POPULOUS. you might also want to check some/most of the stuff on CITY CENTRE OFFICES as well. cheers asg --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

He followed it up with _Ilisu_ - in a similar vein, but perhaps less effusive. Can't say I'd choose those descriptive adjectives to describe either of them. Admittedly, the melodies may be sweet and serene at times but the 'serenity' is kind of undermined by the profusion of glitch, crunch, and skitteriness. Nice stuff, but *at length* the fussiness and 'nervousness' of the drum programming can lead to irritation, I find. alan/beyond...sound On Thu, 14 Aug 2003 09:08:46 -0600 (MDT) kingmob@nmt.edu wrote:
