Hello
some people requested that I send this out (due to a partial posting of it
earlier). Hope that some find it useful...

Subject: Tales of the Mad Monkey #2
Greetings from Mad Monkey and sorry for the lack of contact. We just got
the 6 DVD set of "Planet of the Apes" and we were simply entranced by it.
So what is new at the habitat? Plenty.
(I must apologize in advance for the length of this email - Just too much
going on)
PRESS:
Neutral has been featured in recent issues of CMJ, XL8R and URB. We are
very happy about this.
Releases:
Neutral - "Font Translation Errors" (MMR03). Re-release: September 19,
2000. It is identical to the first pressing but with much wider
distribution.
Dead Hollywood Stars - "Gone West" (MMR05). Release: October 17 2000.
More on DHS in a moment.
Dead Hollywood Stars - "Wagon of Miracles EP" (MMR12A). Release:
November 2000. Contains 3 tracks from "Gone West" and one exclusive
track to the 12 inch.
Where's MMR04? You ask. Don't worry it isn't some clever ploy by us to
make our label more spot worthy. MMR04 is Burning Rome - "Whistler's
Bombardier" CD. It is due out in January 2001. Trust us, it will be a
great way to start a new year.
So who is Dead Hollywood Stars?
DHS is: John Sellekaers (Xingu Hill, Urawa, Ambre, Moonsanto, Ammo and
Snog), C-drik (Ambre, Moonsanto, Axiome and Ammo), Herve Thomas (Urawa and
Hint), J-R Rob(u)rang (Silk Saw, Ultraphonist) and Marc Medea (Silk Saw,
Ultraphonist). These artists have recorded for such esteemed labels as
Ant-Zen, Hymen, Sub Rosa, and Foton.
So what does it sound like?
It's not dance music, but you can dance to their charged down-tempo
rhythms. It's not listening music, but few things this year will engage
your ears and mind like their ambience-washed sound. Should you need a
starting point for comparison, look to, of all things, classic country and
western music. Within the CD you will find catchy banjo-styled jangles,
crunchy beats, boiling guitars and nighttime desert ambiance. It is a
stunning and picaresque ride.
Mad Monkey Goes to New York (again)
Well, we are taking part in SINfestival (www.sinfestival.com). It is
sponsored by Safety in Numbers and promises to be a unique time for all.
Many labels will be taking part (to many to list) but suffice to say you
should go.
Festival dates are October 25 - 28.
The following MMR artists will be playing during the festival:
Dead Hollywood Stars (this is a rare American appearance by these artists) (26th)
Neutral (26th)
Burning Rome (27th)
ENE (27th)
Army of the 23 Monkeys (Decks and Machines) (27th)
Speaking of Army of the 23 monkeys I have some unrelated info to share:
A023M has recently completed an EP and it will be released on a new label
called Circumvent (they are friends of ours) in October. It will contain
remixes by future Mad Monkey artists so we recommend tracking this thing
down. As for the A023M material - well I am biased and won't say much ;)
Lastly, if you know of anyone you think should read these ramblings please
forward it to them. Also, if a store in your town doesn't carry MMR and
you want them to, let us know. We will see what we can do.
Yours truly,
Daniel Monkey
