September 2000 Hello ! I am still living out a suitcase and collecting the occasional ray of sunshine at the moment. Anyone passing through London might be interested in checking out the largest digital video screen outdoors anywhere in Europe in Leicester Square, W1. It is currently showing a series of art videos including an amusing collaboration between Dfuse and myself entitled Spinique with animated panda bears, as well as controversial work by The Chapman Brothers, Gavin Turk and others. It runs until the end of the October. For only the second time an entire performance of the 20>2000 series curated by Carsten Nicolai/Noto happens this week in Austria. Featuring live performances by the likes of Komet, Ryoji Ikdea, Coh, Senking, Thomas Brinkmann, Elph and others. There is also a continuation of the Klangpark begun last year with Michael Nyman now with Alexander Balanescu improvising with To Rococo Rot and others, as well as free outdoor performances with Pole and Gramm. Later this month "Sound aka Space" consisting of an exhibition, a club, and a symposium, takes place in Hamburg in September 2000, as one section of a bigger exhibiton in public space, titled "Aussendienst". It will feature Thomas Brinkmann, Chicks on Speed, Carsten Nicolai, Pan Sonic, Daniel Pflumm/Kotai+Mo, Scanner, Miki Yui presenting works in a gallery space. There will be a symposium with Martin Pesch, Mercedes Bunz, David Toop and others on 30 Sept and later live performances. My installation 'Sound Curtain' at the Wellcome Wing of the Science Museum in London exploring the invisible sounds of science continues to run and bewilder children rushing to the toilets where it is located. I also just completed recording of my new pop record I have threatened friends with for some time. I am pleased with it at the moment, entitled Wave of Light by Wave of Light, it will come out sometime around October this year. For now, as always, thanks for continued support and patience for my slow response to emails when I am away from home so much. And as ever, if this dulls your senses then just let me know and I shall not trouble you again. Best wishes Robin Rimbaud ******************** Diary Dates 7 Sept 20>2000 performance as part of the Ars Electronica / Linz Austria <http://www.aec.at/nextsex>http://www.aec.at/nextsex until 10 Sept As It is - Ikon Gallery Birmingham UK <http://www.ikon-gallery.co.uk>http://www.ikon-gallery.co.uk 17-19 Sept Prix Italia Italy.
