ummm is it just me or does senor coco sound more like martin denny does kraftwerk than the listed latin styles..I listen to cumbia and merengue alot and it may have some of the elements of these styles...but..to me if this record had some bird call samples over the tracks it would be right on martin denny.....I dunno ...am I wrong? al rato pues que te vaya bien. ___________________ Darren M. Good point. It seems to be a concoction of lots of samples from a variety of latin (and probably also some 'exotica') records creating a kind of homogenized pan-latin sound. You can't really say it's salsa or merengue or samba or whatever because it's not even a real band anyway. Interestingly, this is basically how Martin Denny worked - take bits and peices of 'exotic' music (mostly latin american) and blend them together into something somewhat familiar, somewhat alien.
